Andrew Wood was before his time. Unbelievably talented.... I remember when he died . I was working in a record store. I cried that day thinking what an incredible loss. I knew he was special. I knew he was good. But I had no idea at that time the huge influence he would have on the music industry.

Absolute giant talent and a huge loss to the whole Seattle vibe. “Would” by AIC remains the ultimate tribute song in my opinion but no one can ever overstate AW’s influence and sheer genius for music. Heartbreaking that he is virtually unknown. Real lovers of the genre revere him as an icon….an absolute treasure.

After Andy's passing I never saw Stone Gossard as happy, crazy and funny as he was around Abdy. I think they were best friends. @RebelGodessRed90

Yes, I find that to be odd. That so much of notes went missing for that period of time. Not sure if they withheld them because if it wasn’t documented, it didn’t happen. I wonder if the aneurysm happened between that time and that’s why he was unresponsive when the documentation picked up again? I wish we knew more about what happened. ❤️

RIP. Also, apologies, you had autographed a green river album for my mother slightly before you left. I was a pesky 10 year old on Alki when I took the disc you’d signed, out of the case and carelessly lost it forever. My mom was very mad. I never knew why, I always thought it was just a cd, but it was really you. And these songs written for and inspired by you - loved all of them. Had zero idea they’d been written about you. Met Pete(?) from Candlebox at 99.9 KZOK in my early 20s, mowed Eddie’s lawn, was grounded a DIFFERENT time as a kid for losing a MLB disc. All of these memories of my life, and I have never even heard of you, or your death. To me, you’ve been alive for like 6 days, and I have so much to learn about you. You changed the generation of music and culture that directly influenced my childhood, my appreciation for all kinds of music, hell, really who I am today. I’ll be real with you, I’m not into the sound you guys were playing back then, but I loved and still love the sound it inspired. Without you, in many ways, I would not be who I am. Without you, bands today inspired by Chris or Eddie or Kevin or whoever, may have never found that inspiration at all. I’m in my 30s now Andrew, it is so nice to formally meet you after wandering your orbit all these years. I’m not fascinated in how you died like all the other tragedies, I’m fucking fascination in how you lived.

Andrew personified what a beautiful soul was. "Crown of Thorns" gives me chills to this day, 30 yrs on. Almost prophetic that song, "life is what you make it, and if you make it death, then rest your soul". Seeing Xana was heartbreaking, poor Stargazer, indeed. So much left undone, unwritten, his creativity hadn't even peaked yet, the death of Andrew Wood forever remains an immense tragedy, dying while wearing not a crown of thorns, but the shining crown of youth.

Andrew Wood would have been a superstar, with his song writing talent, bigger than Plant, Roth and maybe even Jagger. I don't think Chris Cornell ever got past his death, and he experience depression and survivor's guilt for the rest of his life, which likely ended with thoughts of Andrew.

Yes that is odd that 10 hours of documentation is missing. As a future nurse that is very suspicious. Documentation is needed especially for monitoring condition as critical as Andrew’s. Something went on between that time and we don’t know what did. It just skips to him not doing well and becoming unresponsive and the documentation picks up again. If it wasn’t documented, it didn’t happen basically and we are without information for those 10 hours. Not good. ❤️

The death of Andy Wood was questionable too. If you watch this to the end, you'll have to watch part with no audio, as the information on Andy's condition in the hospital is shady.. He was coming to, brain waves, breathing and complete signs of recovery, then a big blank spot, including his medical records for that time in between him coming back alive strong to him all of a sudden going onto life support, then of course the final end. :(... This was traumatic for Chris, no doubt. ( Want to hug his mother ~ a special lady, poor thing blames herself) Friday March 16 1990, 10:10pm ~ Wood's girlfriend, Xana, dials 911 10:34 pm: Patient revived and placed on respirator Sat. 12:40 Patient admitted to Traumatic Intensive Care Sat 8:00 am Patient improving, CT scan shows some swelling of the the brain. Sat. 8:00 pm Patient breathing improves, Condition: Hopeful Sun 8pm Patient blood pressure stabilizes. Pupils reactive Sun 2 pm Patient removed from paralysis medication, becomes restless. -- ( LIFE returning obviously) *More than 10 hours of nurse's notes removed from hospital records Monday, Patient unresponsive,, no reflex, little evidence of brain activity Monday, March 20, 1990 Patient removed from respirator 5:15 pm. The end. (Xara, Wood's girlfriend, had Andy kept on life support until Chris could return to Seattle from New York to say good bye to his best friend... They are now making the best music ever together. Too soon to not be doing it here with us right now. RIP Brothers. You're missed beyond what words can say.

You're one classy troll, 'joan'.... All I did was point out truths in the video that were not spoken, so when the video plays, if you don't see it, you miss it. It's in there to inform. You must be one of those who can't handle the truth. Come after me behind your anonymous troll profile, you coward.

I don't get it. What could have happened in those 10 undocumented hours for Andrew's condition to go from improving to just unresponsive?
@orvil9223
@orvil9223 5 жыл бұрын
Everybody keeps focusing on the word "improving". Seems like no one wants acknowledge the next line - "CT scan shows brain swelling". A person can show improvement as other issues heal, or get better, but that does not mean that the brain swelling didn't get him, eventually. You have to operate to reduce the pressure on the brain - if it doesn't happen, or there are complications, it's lights out.

Yes, complications can happen after an overdose. Not sure how long Andrew was in a coma for before he was found and revived. An aneurysm also happened to him which caused him to go downhill. It’s truly tragic what happened and I’m sorry his family had to go through that and his friends. One of the hardest decisions to have to be decided or made is to pull the life support of someone. ❤️

Andy’s parents were in complete denial as Xana has talked about. I think this was his way of dealing with the pain- being direct like he felt he should have before Andy died.

The influence is just ridiculous…I can’t listen to stardog champ, without getting feels… I mean basically, Pearl Jam is the biggest tribute to Andy! They carried his soul on with the meeting of Vedder (whom came a little late, literally - DogTemple), and Krus…and if you don’t think “Alive” isn’t influenced by Starsog Champ, then you should have your music wings clipped! Andy was a shootin star, with a tail as long as the universe…I hope after this generation of phones kids moves beyond pocket TVs and starts really raw dog life, there will be a few stardog champions picking up guitars and sticks, and cleaning the garage out and making the throw rug concert venue (garage band, dreaming of being onstage in a rock arena)….and put a foot through the music door of this sad era. I know a legend is in waiting, armed with mother love bones Andy’s vision and dreams, and will change the world!

I often wonder what would have happened to rock and roll had Andy lived. Would Apple have gone on to be a massive breakthrough on par with Appetite for Destruction, and would MLB grabbed the torch from Guns N Roses to be the new giant hard rock band, and be the band to define the Seattle scene instead of Nirvana? I think if it had been MLB and then Nirvana being the two giant Seattle bands rather than Nirvana and then Pearl Jam, the grunge sound would've been far more balanced with both introversion and extroversion, flamboyance and withdrawal; rather than completely dreary and cynical and dark like it ended up being. Andy and Kurt would've had a such a perfect rivalry and would've really well represented two completely different sides of hard rock. Eddie was too similar to Kurt in that regard. If the Seattle scene ended up being that much more varied and balanced I think rock would've been in a much healthier state during the 90's, rather than the unbelievably one-sided dark and negative state it ended up in. Would've prevented its fracturing into tiny subgroups and stalled the rise of raps dominance.

Well stated. I just discovered MLB and AIC. I too have wondered the same thing. MLB would've definitely have gotten my attention. In 1990 I was into New Kids on the Block, Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men. I love all types of music by the way. I liked that Andy seem to be about love even in the midst of pain. Never got that feeling from Nirvana. You should Google the meeting that changed hip hop and ruined a generation. You may find it interesting.
