The interesting part about this performance is that when Cornell and Vedder did the song, Vedder did the low part and brought people in while Cornell would smash the higher register part of it. On this version, Cornell sang Vedder's part immaculately and gave Chester the time to shine with the upper register part. This is a wonderful performance emphasizing Cornell's unselfish behavior toward other artists and talent and Chester's true vocal ability to smash the upper register part. It is extremely sad that both men are no longer with us. I was a huge fan of both men and their groups.

Chris sang Eddie's part, but it's not his register. Only Eddie can do that bass/ baritone thing for this song. Nonetheless, it just goes to show Chris's dynamic range... and humility. A humble massive rock star who put everyone else before himself. Chris is one of the greatest vocalists in recorded history (the greatest imho) Nobody sings like you anymore.

maybe depression isnt always an individual thing. maybe society is sick, maybe our values are degenerating.
@fredh28794 жыл бұрын
It’s a combination. Depression is a physical disease of the brain. But so much ignorance still exists in society. People close to you still saying things like “what do you have to be sad about?”; a teacher telling her 11th grade class that her cousin was the one she admired, that is, until she found out she took medication for depression. “I don’t need pills to make me happy” was her statement to the class. When those we rely on are this ignorant, how can we expect to be able to teach our kids? So much still needs to be done scientifically. But we need to do better as a society, with all aspects of mental illness. How many people still think a heroin addiction is someone who made a bad choice; or that sex addiction doesn’t exist? We have dishonest politicians lying to us for their own political greed, saying that gun laws would help reduce mass killing. We, as a society, have to do better. Too many within society are ignorant and unwilling to open their minds to things they don’t understand. Mental illness is the result of a physical disease. People need to educate themselves.
