Walkinginthelight38 Damn right bro... They were actually Neighbors at one point and were best friends for a long time. I think from what I've heard and watched and read that Chris was Eddie's absolute best friend... idk them personally but the way he talks about Chris and the way he spoke to him, and DAMN all that connection they share on stage or even playing some bs together for fun.... it was stronger than what I seen with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath/Ozzy.... it's really something you only come by once in a great while and man am I glad I was around to witness and see these two bands unfold! LMAO I remember recording them onto tapes from the radio when they play the top whatever 10 late at night or the top 100? With Casey Kasem LMFAO on the weekend..... Soundgarden would be Black Hole Sun and Pearl Jam would be geez a few songs and then when you took the two best damn vocalists and put them together wow this is what you get. Whether it's on the recorded version from the studio or live it's still awesome what you miss getting the visual of Chris and Eddie or Eddie and Chris however you like to put them, you missed getting the visual of seeing those two collaborate together Live, it's certainly special.

True story: I was a 34 year old soccer mom with 3 rambunctious boys I had no way to relate to. My middle son loved Pearl Jam and Sound Garden and played the DC's so often I had to replace them. One day I heard this song and I asked him what band had Chris and Eddie in it and he explained Temple of the Dog to me in sarcastic teen boy talk. I said"which guy is the vocalist because I could tell that there were 2 strong singers in this song. I thought Chris sang first and then Eddie. He said "yeah, how'd you know that?" Sorry this is not true. Along with vocalists others have mentioned, Tom Petty, Anthony Kiedis, Axl Rose, and John Lennon are all undeniably baritones, and even debatably Chris Cornell and Kurt Cobain (I think neither of them are baritones, but that's up for debate). edit: also Phil Anselmo,David Bowie, Iggy Pop, you get the idea.

David coverdale is high baritone
@dj_daem0n2 жыл бұрын
@@motorologist Maybe Axl is a natural baritone, but that didn't get him famous. It was that raspy falsetto he used in practically every GNR song. The one he can barely replicate anymore. Cornell is ABSOLUTELY NOT a baritone. Neither are Kiedis, Cobain, Petty, or Bowie who are bari-tenors (the in-between). The difference is, baritones can comfortably hit the higher end register of bass. If you've never heard them hit that, it's probably not in their tool kit. Then you have people like Johnny Cash who are bass-baritones (people who can hit midrange bass with their high end in the low part of baritone. True baritone singers are rare in popular music, people who can hit baritone registers are not.

April 1991. 28...wait, TWENTY EIGHT years ago this album was released. Blew my mind and I had no idea who these rugged voices were or who they were paying tribute to. Year unfolded and we were blessed with BadMotorFinger and Ten. And also Nevermind. What was happening?! Backing up a bit, there was Mother Love Bone. It all made sense. This was a unified front of brothers paying respect to a fallen brother. The Love Child. Don't forget Screaming Trees. Mudhoney. "The Sound". I'm 51 now and I can proudly remember my youth with memories of etched friendships, revolving angst, yearning for truth. Sadly, the voices that pioneered are now echoes but immortally preserved in vinyl and the timeless covers that remind our youth of today that it wasn't just cool music, it was music that changed lives.

They had their own styles . Even though they were part of the Grunge era /Seattle sound , they were different. Pearl Jam rose after Andy’s death and don’t sound anything like Mother Love Bone. Temple of the Dog formed after Andy died and they sounded nothing like MLB. They were all friends with Layne and no one sounded like him and never will.. Artists are just that , artists . They needed to be free to do their own thing . With the exception of Andy, they all were hugely successful in their own right . Andy unfortunately died before he was able to get the success he deserved, but he has never been forgotten.

I was there for this concert. This was such a great concert. The fact that this was the last time Eddie and Chris would ever perform this song together makes me even more grateful I went to that year's Bridge Benefit Concert.

I HAVE BEEN IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG SINCE I WAS 15!! NEVER COULD I HAVE IMAGINED CHRIS WOULD LEAVE THE WAY HE DID, BUT THERE IS A SAYING; "THE BRIGHTEST STARS BURN HALF AS LONG", & I HAVE TO THINK OF HIM THAT WAY. THANK GOD EDDIE HAD BEEN A TRUE PILLAR THROUGH ALL OF THE LOSE OF INCREDIBLY CLOSE FRIENDS TO SUCH SENSELESS ENDS. WE ALL NEED TO TRY AND REACH OUT, NO MATTER HOW PROUD OR ASHAMED OF HOW DEEPLY SAD YOU FEEL. TOMORROW IS NOT PROMISED TO ANYONE, & WE HAVE TO LIVE EACH DAY AS IF IT'S OUR LAST BECAUSE ONE DAY WE WILL BE RIGHT! HANG ON, TELL SOMEONE, AND LIVE YOUR TRUTH. YOUR A PRICELESS AND BEAUTIFUL. I HAVE BEEN THERE, SO FAR DOWN, & I STILL FIGHT MYSELF. PLEASE FIGHT WITH ME!!

Every time these legends performed this song together, you can just see the immense amount of respect and love they have for each other. It kills me that there's so few of these guys left...

Thank you for uploading this. I'm not interested in copying this. I am very interested in just relaxing and enjoying these two extraordinary people whose voices harmonize into one. You can see, hear and feel the compassion, respect, admiration and true friendship they had for each other. The sound quality is outstanding. I wish I had been to this, or any live performances of Chris Cornell. It's sad to have lost him, and I'll never know why he's gone, but it's given me second thoughts to follow the same tragic path which he and Chester followed. But there's got to be a better way to work through depression and take control of your future.

Larry Fulmer If you ever think about something like that, don't do it, talk to somebody. I know how it feels to be depressed. But there's always at least one person who cares, and it's selfish to do that to them. Put them through the same pain you went through to think those thoughts. And if you have no one you will find someone trust me.😊

Breaks my heart seeing those kids. My Mom was a teacher, and she took a position in a program called REACH in an Elementary school. It was for special kids just like these amazing children. She asked me many times to come by and see them. One day I did that, and it touched me like nothing else could. They were special, and so was my Mother. I couldn't have done what she did.

I like how eddie vedder puts in the same effort n enthusiasm of every performance ive ever seen or heard of him over all these years. Such a rare thing nowadays. No videos of him being drunk n getting in fights w the crowd n doing things half-assed.

As a Gen X'er I can say that comment is patently false. We've done more damage to this world than most will admit. Now it's up to millennials to fix it. I can only hope we didn't do too much damage to be able to fix it.

Im a boomer, been working on saving something, anything, for 50 years. Now I just rescue animals. Dont want to politicize this BUT, this coming election is the most important of my lifetime & most likely all Americans. Please campaign & vote for Biden/Harris. This time it really matters! Rip Chris & Chester, the world is a little worse from the loss of these two speakers of truth.
