We get free videos in exchange for watching ads. But again, this isn't some consumer product she's shilling to turn a quick profit. It's an organization that tries to help people in need. And a topic that relates directly to her personally, as well as to the subject of this particular video. If Cornell had starved to death, and the sponsor was a food bank, would you still be this cynical about it? If you want to scoff and turn up your nose at the capitalism of it all, look no further than the description above, where she has links to sell her own merch, and to plug the manufacturers of her headphones and even her chair! But to insist that she chose *this* sponsor for *this* video purely out of avarice seems intentionally obtuse. It's just a weird hill to die on, dude. I admit there's a chance that she's a soulless, money hungry LLC, just in it for the clicks and riches. I accept that I might be competely wrong about her intentions, I'm just asking that you do the same. Look, I'm sure at some point in your life you've helped someone just because they needed it, not for any personal gain. Not only do I wish I could sing like this very talented man, but the arrangement with the cello, the guitar, almost a Spanish style , the cadence , all of it makes this such a beautiful version of this song!! I love hearing him belt out, even mini belts like 14:47 ! It gives me chills! When I get into my somber modes I listen to this and Linda Perry's "It F**king Hurts" (her version at "Guitar Center"). I wish you would listen to her if you haven't! She started as the singer for 4 Non Blondes,, and as soon as I heard her voice,, I knew she was going to be a success in the music field! Her song Letter to God, that she performed on the the TV show ''The Talk" with Sharon Ozbourne, was a really emotional performance that I also wish you would get a chance to see as well!! But, she does many songs that I believe doesn't touch the range she is able to reach, very low key I believe for a woman that has the gift to grab someone with her raspy, blues style belt when she wants!! And, I have to take a minute to really applaud your mention and reach out for those in need of mental help! I am a retired cop who was on a crisis intervention unit! The amount of people who really can't handle stress, depression, and anxiety, along with negative traumatic instances in their life, is an unbelievable number! It has even taken a toll on myself many many times being there with them in my attempt to be a band-aid until I tried to get them to the help they needed! And I like to thank you for that moment of caring and help you offered in this video!!

Excellent analysis and very respectful way of tying BetterHelp into the conversation. I was fortunate to see him in concert 4 times - once with Soundgarden in 2011, twice on his solo acoustic tours, and on the Temple of the Dog 25th anniversary tour 6 months before his death. The power and the pain in his voice is what has drawn so many to his music for years. Please consider doing more reactions with his singing in the future! My top recommendations would be Soundgarden - “Outshined,” Temple of the Dog - “Call Me a Dog,” or his song “When I’m Down.”

@@Nugzbunny420 "better"? It resonates more with you, completely fair (I have my fave too) but can we pls end this 'better than' bullshit. What hits you most is important to you. Hold it close to your heart and value it but don't try to diminish another's work, effort or experience or love of through that. It's unbecoming. And most of all, it's untrue. When it comes to art, all is subjective. I personally also love SoC and CC's more than Prince's but would never say that were 'better'. He wrote it. He felt it. he conjured it so others could relate and re-interpretate. Recognize that, also, please. 'Better than' is only a tragedy, it's not proving or validating anything.

The way the cello is bowed and the guitar is picked during the solo is so beautiful. It lulls me into this bittersweet melancholic sense of serenity. Then Chris comes in so strongly with “all the flowers that you planted mama, in your back yard” which snaps me back to reality, then he shifts back down to a breathy, broken-sounding “all died when you went away”. Makes me shed a little tear every time. Such powerful singing, one take, minimal production, pure emotion - such great music making right here. I come back to this every once in a while when I need to let out some of my sadness.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for the mental health shout out. Like many others my age (early 40s) I grew up in a home and then a work environment that at best discounted mental illness, at worst actively disparaged it and those suffering from it. Without oversharing too much, I've had several breakdowns, clinical depression, anxiety, eating problems, self medication spiralling into addiction...things that had I known there was help for - and that it was OK to ask for help for - might have been treated well before things got to crisis point. To anyone out there who is suffering, I know it can be so hard to take that first step towards getting help, but if you can it may well be one of the best things you ever do, for you and for those around you. It's been 8 years now since my last major period of problems and I'm healthy, sober and content. I've come to better understand my issues and learned better ways of coping with those tougher periods that crop up from time to time. Things really can get better.

Thank you so much for sharing, Snorefish. Depression, anxiety, certain disorders are more than just chemical imbalances, and combating them with medication is not the way. I'm super glad you're acceptant of our sponsor today, because it IS a topic I am so passionate about.
