I really hope Chris keeps on trying to get healthy. I want him to sing till he is 70. For my money, one of the greatest rock singers ever, up there with Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers. No one's voice can tear paint off the walls (in key) or dive into the lower registers with a beautiful groan like Chris.

Even though I'm older by five years, Chris (and Layne's) music affected me the most out of all of the Seattle bands. The depth of feeling and raw integrity always shone through in his voice and guitar. Oops...forgot Andrew Wood...SHAME on me!

i know what he means about alchohol, it opens this new tab of expression something new and scary you would normally held back but under the influence it explodes and sounds good and feels good..u can sing ur heart out and it would feel right....

I like to drink, but yes, it doesn't help music that much. Cannabis and LSD certainly do, though.

@Oni64 Dave Grohl? He's played in over 30 bands with drums, guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards and more. He fronts Foo Fighters, drummed for Nirvana and QOTSA and founded Them Crooked Vultures with people from Led Zeppelin and QOTSA. Just off the top of my head :)

@Oni64 Didn't say he was better (but I do think he is), just saying there are still rock legends. They are few and far between, but if all musicians were that awesome they wouldn't seem special. And yeah, Chris Cornell is one of my favourite singers of all time.

@jetsonic69 LET'S TRY STARTING DOING IT TOGETHER.. B Y NOW WE'RE NOBOBY, BUT I BELIEVE THAT IF WE DON'T EVEN TRY, WE WON'T NEVER KNOW. THESE ARTISTS WE ARE THINKING ABOUT BECAME SATISFIED PEOPLE BEING THEMSELVES IN CREATING SOMETHING NEW BY THEIR WAY-MEAN OF EXPRESSION. I THINK WE COULD TRY STARTING FROM THIS.
