It blows my mind how many people misunderstand that whole 10% shit.... its absolutely not the case.. we use smaller percentages of overall brain function for specific tasks like for example moving would take around 10% of your overall brain function to activate the muscle groups in your body to make you move how you chose... 90 percent of our brain isnt locked like a video game character you dont have access to yet...

He's confusing studies around brain processing power/memory recall and assuming the rest. Brains are lazy things that like to cut corners and save energy where possible. In terms of memory recall, your brain doesn't search every neuron in your entire head to find a single memory. Associative learning and new neural pathways form, creating a shortcut to that memory, in turn reducing the processing power required to recall said memory. So it's not 'The brain cant use 100%' it's more-so 'Why would the brain use 100%, when it could get the same results from 10%'. You can actually test this function in your brain by finding a sentence, any one. Drop all letters bar the first and last from each word, then attempt to read it. Most people can read this sentence as clearly as they would with the letters included. This is because your brain is using associative learning to understand a pattern, instead of relying on your visual cues. Ironically the part of the brain that forms these connections, is likely the same part that led him to form this conclusion- however wrong it may be.

I believe what he's trying to communicate is that if you use your capacity of thought to think about how you're thinking, you're actually thinking outside of your capacity to think. He's not wrong. But he's not right either. Like in meditation when you look inside at who's looking outside, you're more conscious than somebody who's just looking outside. but consciousness is still consciousness. it's still the 10 %.
