The reason this standup was a bit off was because his long divorced parents were in the crowd sitting next to each other. He talked about it on his podcast, his dad is an animal and started arguing with Chrissy's mom when he was doing his thing on stage. You can see Chris look at the crowd weird because he thought they'd torpedo his whole show and parents would get thrown out. But he powered through.

Gjermund Kristiansen I think it's because he can't cuss. That happens a lot with stand up on talk shows. Still as funny but they can't use there full cussing vocabulary. Plus they're probably a little nervous that they're actually on TV. Broadcasted to millions of people.

In addition to what other people have said, these kinds of things are also gangshot, from what I understand. Or at least heard on the JRE so I guess take it with a grain of salt lol. Gangshot segments just file you in and out of the set with not only an audience that isn't there for you at all, but also a talkshow audience, so just so far from the kind of people Chris usually attracts. Couple that with the clean lingo and bright lights/camera, and there's just so much off from usual that it would be hard to maintain focus. You saw that too, when he took a breather and 180'd into his usual material
