Honestly I've always thought it interesting that that's the character they decided to create It seems painfully obvious that the character has nothing going for him so I'm surprised they made him like that or even made him at all there's just not much that can be done with the character on a fundamental level there's no interesting traits He's not as dumb and sporadic as Peter Sue is not going to just do random things like Peter does they get a story rolling but he's also not smart enough to have him be used as a problem solver or do anything with his intelligence and he's just too lazy to really pursue objectives so he's not able to create stories because he's just not active as a person

Chris has basically become a Quagmire lite. In the past, he was the annoying younger brother who still had a heart and was interested in creating. Now he's just a weird pervert. Like within the past few seasons he's taken a photo of his mother in the shower, lied saying he had sex with her while she was dressed as his teacher, said he wanted to watch Meg breastfeed, and has constantly made comments about the hotness of his mother. In all of Seth's shows, it has a weird incestuous thing when it comes to the younger brother character. In American Dad, we have Steve thirsting over his mother and in one episode, even make out with Hayley when he was under the impression he was adopted... even though they were still raised as siblings, showing he's had thoughts about his sister like that before. In The Cleveland Show, there was the episode where Cleveland Jr. kisses Donna (I believe it was the dance competition episode). It's just so weird to me how a handful of adult animated shows have incest plot lines (other examples are Rick and Morty & even Futurama). It's just really gross.
@helpimarock663 ай бұрын
I remember there was an episode where Chris comes to the drunken clam to ask Peter and his friends about safe sex and when Joe tries to give him advice, he dismisses him because he thinks because he's in a wheelchair he can't offer anything of value and then proceeds angrily shout that he's a two-wheeled monster. I remember finding that moment so baffling because while they've flanderized characters on the show and made them way more mean than they were in the past, Chris has always been such a bland and poorly-defined character from the start that I genuinely could not tell if that scene even was betraying his character or not.

So Chris Griffin has pretty much the problem Trini Kwan does for OG Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Something I like to call “Background Main Character Syndrome”. As in, they are characters that are there to do their purposes in the group (Chris being the dim teenage middle kid of the Griffin family, and Trini generally being the kind peacekeeper keeping the group together and the only one to understand Billy’s technobabble and translate it to others) but for whatever reason don’t get enough focus as they probably should have as the other cast members. It always sucks when that happens for ANY character in an ensemble cast for a story, but I get that sometimes other characters in a cast are so more interesting/important it just can’t be helped. Oh well. That’s not the total end of the world though. Depending on the show, one cast member in an ensemble not having as much depth as others is generally okay as long as they’re still serving their purpose within the group decently enough. It’s just that as viewers sometimes we notice those things. Not saying Chris or Trini are bad characters because of their lack of focus (again, they have their functions), but it was just a funny/analytical, comparison and I wanted to make. XD

In my opinion, Steve Smith from American Dad is a much better 'son' character. Apart from the fat jokes, Steve is used for the same type of jokes but with more success. In addition, he has far more substance in his character; he has four friends with funny characteristics alongside his amazing ability to sing. Also, he can be used in many more storylines showing, once again, how American Dad has better storytelling than Family Guy. In comparison to Steve, Chris does not have any of this.

2:02. One of the most memorable Family Guy episodes is where Chris' teacher wanted him to kill her husband... I still LOL every time i see him fall from the 2nd floor and Swetie yelling at him 😂

In early seasons he visibly had storylines, the artist storyline, the scouts, the gumble to gumble arc, the love story with Sam, who actually turns out to be a Cis female (to Chris's delight) - to name a few Not seen your vids before, I'm hearing such a Northern Irisih twang in your accent, and it's so interesting.

Brian Griffin here, you have crossed the line!!! You may have made a callout on me, or Lois, or even Stewie, but you have officially barked the wrong tree by picking on Chris. We both like big awesome cartoons, so why can't we be both put our differences aside and be friends? Have you read my book 'Faster than the Speed of Love'?

The scene that sums up Chris's pointlessness and lack of consistency is at the end of the episode where Stewie plays football and gets a concussion. Chris walks into the hospital with a newborn saying "they are giving away free people"...then less than a minute later in the same scene, he tries to initiate a serious discussion about the NFL and concussions. What the hell?

3:09 I haven't finished the video yet but another thing to add to Chris in the early seasons is his anti conformity and passion for art. "Yeah dad fight the machine". It's not developed as much as it should be but there's an attempt at a rebel outsider status that they don't even bother to attempt later

The only reason why I prefer Chris is because of over flanderization of literally every main character in Family Guy making Chris the most consistent character of the show.

The ideal chris episode. You have the family go somewhere for something. Something meg related (since they are supposed to love her) and in this other city, Chris has to baby sit stewie. Chris can get distracted by an art thing, and stewie, being his usual abrasive self who doesnt care about chris and his wants, can run off to do something like science related. Give him a soft spot for a certain science personality. Since stewie is a baby, he doesnt communicate with chris and runs off. This leaves chris, a character who is (supposed to be) mature, but is misunderstood and underestimated. When he realizes that stewie is missing he goes to find him, cause he also does love his baby brother. Stewie, while almost an adult, can take a lisa simpson bus ride and get lost, realizing that he's scared in this new place without his brother, comes to realize that he actually cares about chris a lot more than he originally thought, and has a more baby ish episode where there are actual "stakes". Chris can be shown to use his skills and abilities, say sketching a picture of stewie for identification, and have a moment where he overcomes his awkwardness with women to try and find stewie. In the end, chris finds stewie, they hug and talk about how scared they are and how much they love eachother and so on, but you can show him caring for stewie more in the rest of the episode, maybe have a thing where it cuts back to the family home where chris puts stewie to sleep, and hung above his bed there can be a sketch of chris and stewie hugging or something, that chris drew, that stewie kept.
