***** I'll make an assumption you are talking about the Camaro... In the 70s at least a few Trans-Am teams wanted to swap the SLA with the IRS from the C2 Corvette. The C3 was too narrow I guess. But Cambered controlled Swing axles would be easily to parlay. But the Race judges disallowed it. Stupid move really. Anyway, I could see you doing that.
@DocWolph9 жыл бұрын
***** You would not need to do that. Just look up C2 Corvette rear suspension. The Jaguar E-type looks roughly the same but is much less robust and has inboard brakes. When I said "swing axle" you might have pictures the VW Beetle (I don't know the year VW finally fixed that) or pre-1968 Chevy Corvair. Trust me when you actually look at this stuff you will understand , and a C2 rear end swap will be just fine.
@DocWolph9 жыл бұрын
***** I would also be a matter of what actually fits. I can see a lot of rebuilding and modifications. and since you can built the C2 IRS from mod parts its not really a matter of what you can find. Also the moment you need to do any brake work you ware going to hate that Jaguar XJ rear end. Its the major reason why no one uses inboard brakes anymore. It's also not period or manufacture correct nor does it look at all as durable.. That said, its not MY money. You do what you want, just make sure you actually want to do it and want it done. Again do some searches and actually look first before going with the European thing because its European. The GM suspension is better for your GM. That's all. Anymore and it'll just get to be an ugly argument for nothing.

Rover went to crap after dumping out that Buick motor. The 215 is a rare thing here in the USA because it’s dwarfed by other v8s of the time and cars got bigger after it was made but I love how Britain took and expanded on the engine. They really made it breathe as soon as they had their hands on it. Good breathing is a thing all Buick motors struggle with. I should know.

Everything racing should be. Street cars stripped and equipped for racing. No crazy aero (Chin spoiler and deck spoiler or small wing), no monstrous engine upgrades, rather permissive as to what cars are allowed (Mini coopers Vs Camaros vs FB RX-7s Vs Ford Capris vs et al), drifting as natural and necessary technique to get around faster... This is what I picture as real Trans-Am being, with more American cars and newer cars naturally. But still. THIS IS WHAT AMERICA NEEDS. Not a mildly tweaked NASCAR, or Indycars that look like insane collections of shaving razors. Car people can buy from the local dealer, that you or you friend/neighbor/rival may be driving, out actually racing. Oh! BTW, Subscribed!
