You seem way more bothered than Chris or Kevin. Most comedians would be honored to be interrupted by Lily Tomlin.

She's just asking for clarification which is how we learn. She's also nearly 80s so she probably isn't picking it up as quickly. There are many places where English is spoken where the accent and dialect is difficult for people from other places, even within the same country.

There are plenty of times when someone with another accent has not understood my American accent, but I never thinks it's rude for them not to understand me. I don't expect them to understand me just because they're in the US. Almost like I don't expect every one who visits the US to be fluent in English or speak it at all. Plus phonetics differ, across the pond duh!

+supastar I could understand him also and I'm American. But not everyone hears things the same so I understand her not understanding him. I think it was rude that she interrupted the story, she could have waited for a better lull in conversation. But I don't think it was rude to not understand him was my point because I a lot of people were making it sound like they've understood everything all the time which is bs.
@sammaysamsam8 жыл бұрын
+supastar It doesn't really matter what WE hear and understand. SHE couldn't understand so she asked, it's not rude to ask someone so you can understand.
@clothilde16238 жыл бұрын
+sammaysamsam I think what bothers people is that she made such a huge deal out of not understanding Kevin, to the point that she derailed other guests' stories, like she did to the God-like Chris Hemsworth here. You're right - it's not rude to fail to understand someone, but it IS rude to point it out repeatedly, mimic the person, patronise them and generally behave like they're a performing ape. Especially when you're on a British chat show and that person is British! Even the other guests looked uncomfortable. Without a doubt she was being very rude, and if I were American, I'd be embarrassed to be associated with her.
