I don't agree, this shows in reality that championships don't really matter that much in a scripted show. Jericho is a legend, and he showed that in many other instances where world titles weren't always involved, and even he agrees that his undisputed title reign wasn't successfull. Does anyone really remember KOTR 98 ME compared to the HITC?

@michaelscott-joynt32153 жыл бұрын
It's important in the context that Vince was right. If Jericho is the new man, that's trouble. The days of Austin, Foley, and Rock were gone; the next generation was smaller, weaker, and really changed the image of pro-wrestling, which is defined by the main event. HHH is the most overrated man in wrestling;. not a star, he worked with stars. Edge and Orton are cool but not world title guys. Batista is pathetic. Jericho paved the way for Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Miz. None of them are world title guys. They should've made the other titles strong. Instead, European, Intercontinental, and Cruiserweight titles became pointless. Everyone gets a world heavyweight title.

This story- as little as it is, explains to me why Jericho is still so hungry for Championship glory even going into his 50s and why he's possibly the best, complete professional wrestler currently. His first ever run as the 'Main Man' was so special to him that he still 'hangs his hat on' it to this day, but the sad thing about it is apart from him, no one recognized it. Neither his peers nor his audience. I can only imagine the disappointment he must've gone through, because he still holds the records. He did beat Steve Austin and Rock on the same night, something the greatest of the greatest couldn't do. He has victories over legends etc etc but it never looked like he was deserving of it, because of the way he was booked. My take is, when AEW came around that was the first time in his wrestling career where he had 100% creative freedom, so that's when he did things he probably wanted to do for a long time creatively.

One of the smartest decisions that Vince has ever made. Rock, Austin and Angle all were former champions multiple times by that point. It was the right decision to put title on Jericho. It's just the fact that he was booked the wrong way. As a result he didn't won another world title for 5 or 6 years. It wasn't his fault. Jericho did an amazing job as undusputed champion.
@BladeXYoutuber4 жыл бұрын
I agree at that time he was the best cocky heel in the company. When triple H came back that was basically it for Jericho and even during their their feud he was an afterthought. While I have no problem with Stephanie being his manager, her and the damn dog shouldn’t be the focus of the feud she should of help make Triple H road to wrestlemania difficult and have Jericho journey smooth sailing.

@@BladeXKZbinr Jericho has always been a master at playing the cowardly heel that will do anything to duck his opponents. See his run as cruiserweight champ in WCW constantly trying to avoid Dean Malenko. A lot of people criticize his booking, but he won almost every televised match he had, and the only clean loss he had was when he dropped the title to Hunter. He shouldn't have been made the third wheel once the Mania build began, but aside from that, I think Jericho's undisputed title reign is underrated. If anything he looked like a fucking boss carrying both belts around.
@BladeXYoutuber4 жыл бұрын
TheQueenFan9 I agree the 2 belts made him look like a million bucks and play the cowardly heel great in wcw but he shouldn’t ever been the third wheel especially when your the face of the company at that time while yes his only clean loss was at wrestlemania X8 he didn’t felt like a strong champion because of the way he was booked. The matches yes he was protected but not in angles. Even if you made their match the co main event behind Hogan Vs Rock it would be a little too late you know what I mean?
@OfficerDoofyInTown4 жыл бұрын
@@BladeXKZbinr can't say any better. One of the main problems was a triangle between HHH, Jericho and Stephanie. As Jericho himself told he felt like a third wheel. It was more about the war between Stephanie and HHH, and there was Jericho as undisputed champion by Stephanie's side carriyng her bags... This is what completely ruined his status. I mean everybody knew that Triple H is going to win at Wrestlemania. So at least do some justice and make Jericho look like he had some chance to win. But they failed even there...

“No hookers or coke for Jericho” 😂. He’s very talented....Wrestler, singer, podcast, and could be a stand up comedian.
