I'm from Australia and been a sun's fan since 1993 when I was 13. As soon as I heard the news about the KD trade, my gut said no no no no. In fact I screamed it while driving my car. I tried to be positive and warm to the idea but it was short lived and all started to unravel when I heard Monty was out. Now with this CP news, no idea what to think. I feel like the fabric of the team I've been loving in recent years has been completely blown up. 😢

As a Suns fan, all of the decisions made are what I want and it seems many many other Suns fans agree. I expected them to either waive Cp3 or trade him. I suspect they will be shopping deandre but we shall see. As a Suns fan with longtime respect for Chris Paul, I am very sad to see him go. But I think getting rid of him is absolutely necessary to clear up the cap space needed to make improvements. They very clearly overpaid for him at 30 mil/year, and the new CBA rules make it even more punishing for teams that are spending lots of money. So I understand the move. If my Suns can’t win it next year, then I am rooting for whichever team CP3 ends up on. I think he could be invaluable as a mentor to a young point guard, and a great veteran presence that does not necessarily need to be on the floor to make an impact.

You absolutely don't need a savant passer type to win NBA championships. C's had one of the best offenses in the league this year. Beating the zone is a team wide effort and guys need to be coached up on how to do it. Its not hard - most of them knew how to do it from college. There are LOTS of NBA coaches that stink - so not sure Boston will figure this out. But we can hope.

The only thing that I think will work for the lakers if they bring in chris paul would be to start the second unit. they need to utilize chris paul for 20 minutes tops in a productive second unit, pairing him up with players who will get the defense set up, making him prioritize setting up picks manning the floor that will not make the lakers have a dip in scoring during lebron and ad's rest time. I think pairing him up with mo bamba and jarred vanderbilt in the second unit will be monstrous for the lakers. If it were to happen, the lakers will have a 3 different playstyles whenever lebron, ad, and chris paul is on the floor. You can't milk anymore minutes on chris paul if you want him to continue playing deep in the playoffs, look at what happened to him in this season's playoffs with the suns.

I heard that CP3 didn't want to play with Kobe (privately); despite his having a lot of respect and admiration for him. That's why the deal was nixed. Seriously, when has the NBA ever not bent over backwards to help get the Lakers whatever it is that they needed? Kobe would never mesh with a ball dominant PG, he needed a caddy (Fisher) who could hit wide open 3's as a safety valve, and play a little bit of defense; though FIsher tried he was exactly a good defensive player.
