Chris stayed in hospital for 32 weeks and had 9 surgeries and survived cancer 5-6 years before this song was made. In 2000, he underwent a Whipple procedure, which resulted in the removal of the head of the pancreas and part of the duodenum, bile duct, and gall bladder. Since having this surgery Rea has had problems with diabetes and a weaker immune system, necessitating the need to take thirty-four pills and seven injections a day.

This is such a fantastic song from Chris Rea and I'm so glad that we were able to do the whole thing, ie Parts 1 and 2, because then it's really complete! His voice is gritty and brilliant, really love this song, it's so atmospheric and the intro (part 1) is awesome! This is from 1989 and it's about the M25 around London, London Orbital Motorway, or something like that, the road to hell! Thanks so much for your reaction Anthony. ❤❤

Technically, that thing’s called bottleneck. Mostly made of polycarbonate, may also be made of steel. Chris Rea says it may give some saxophone flavour to its chords
