@@mrit4099 This was before the elections, and the Oscars controversy provided enough material for this monologue. As for your answer, the Oscars have never been dependent on box office results. It's very well-known that flops are often nominated over actual hits. Even so, it ain't that simple to generate box office receipts when you're not given the opportunity to begin with. Take the most dominant genre in cinema today: superhero movies. It's not a level playing field when you're required to cast a white actor for iconic characters like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, etc... In terms of male leads alone; Blade, Hancock, & Black Panther are each a decade apart. Hell, Shang-Chi has yet to hit theaters.

Chris addresses systematic racism as a true gentleman in positive fashion. He, regardless of his comedy routine, is a class act.

More like Hollywood being racist.

Such a brilliant Oscars monologue. Directly confronted the controversy at the time. Didn’t just give it short mention. The whole set was about racism, sexism, and exclusion in Hollywood. Shined a huge spotlight on it. Provided context and perspective to it, and was funny the whole way thru. And what a finish with that George Clooney joke. A perfect performance. Deserves an Emmy for it

Wow 6 years ago, it was “ask her more” today saying “her” could be offensive. We’ve come a long away, haven’t we?

Now imagine if hollywood slapped him in the face. He went there and criticized everyone with his jokes, and they keep hiring him as host and stuff.
