Chris Scruggs I'm a Long Gone Daddy Live Perfomance
Hank Williams I'm A Long Gone Daddy Lyrics
All you want to do is sit around and pout
And now I got enough and so I'm getting out
I'm leaving now
I'm leaving now
I'm a long gone daddy I don't need you anyhow
I been in the doghouse so doggone long
That when I get a kiss I think that something's wrong
I'm leaving now
I'm leaving now
I'm a long gone daddy I don't need you anyhow
I'll go find a gal that wants to treat me right
You go get yourself a man that wants to fight
I'm leaving now
I'm leaving now
I'm a long gone daddy I don't need you anyhow
You start your jaws a-wagging and it never stop
You never shut your mouth until I blow my top
I'm leaving now
I'm leaving now
I'm a long gone daddy I don't need you anyhow
I remember back when you were nice and sweet
Things have changed, you'd rather fight than eat
I'm leaving now
I'm leaving now
I'm a long gone daddy I don't need you anyhow
I'm a-gonna do some riding on the midnight train
I'm taking everything except my ball and chain

This is real country. A Hank Williams song sung by the grandson of the man who made the 5 string banjo a world wide thing instead of a regional US thing. Backed by the best band to be found anywhere, and the steel guitar player from another legendary performer. You don't find this anywhere else. Chris is now a member of Marty's band after a stint with BR5-49. That's another group you need to know. They put old school country and Honky Tonk back in the public eye and made it fun.

Paul Martin a great ex-bass player, but I agree that Chris fits the band better. Chris an awesome entertainer and musician.
@WillyPDX94
@WillyPDX94 3 жыл бұрын
@@mosrite60 I loved Martin and I think he was great in the Superlatives. But Chris is a Swiss Army Knife of Americana and also a great singer. He is somewhat wasted in this band in his bass playing and background singing role, but it's worth it to me because I love Marty and the Fab Supers so much. And they try to let Chris shine whenever they can, so it's all good.
@rockinredneck57
@rockinredneck57 Жыл бұрын
@mosrite60 Paul fit in very well and is a very good guitar player himself. I'm guessing he's still with his family band. Talented bunch for sure. His father in law is Duane Allen of the Oaks. Lots of musical blood in their family. Marty should do a Fabulous Superlatives All Star show and bring back Paul and let him and Chris switch off on bass while Chris plays guitar or steel. It's just endless talent.
@rockinredneck57
@rockinredneck57 Жыл бұрын
For those who don't know, the steel guitar player was the Hall of Fame member and member of Hank Snow's Rainbow Ranch Boys, Kayton Roberts. Chris Scruggs copied his style of table steel guitar. That was the thing before the pedal steel became popular.

What a great song! I used to hate country music when I didn’t know better but I saw the light some time ago. I love this older style of country and honky took. Country music is a sophisticated genre and where it begins and ends is hard to discern. Certainly, country music, the blues, jazz, and rock ‘n roll, are all kissing cousins. These genres are one of the many great contributions that Maerica has made to the world.

Wow, that looks like an original, extremely rare Bigsby guitar Chris is playing. That was the inspiration for Leo Fender designing the Telecaster in the early fifties. Look at the headstock on the Bigsby. Leo Fender copied it, and put an almost identical design on the first Telecasters.
