I’ve said this before, now I’ll say it here. Even with the Country label around his neck, to me, Chris Stapleton is a dyed in the wool 100% Blues Singer! Yes there’s soul, yes there’s rhythm, but at his core, his essence, he is a Bluesman no doubt about it! Just my thoughts ladies and gentlemen just my thoughts.

Country music was never my thing, though I thoroughly enjoyed the outlaw wing of the genre. But that was a long time ago and, with a few exceptions, country was as lost as pop music - vapid and formulaic. But Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell are making some unbelievable music, reviving something that had died long ago.

There is a difference? Where do you think the blues came from? Every listened to Hank Williams sing "Your Cheating Heart". People used to call it "music to take your heart out and stomp on it."
@jwilsonhandmadeknives27604 жыл бұрын
He's this generation's Willie Nelson. People hear three songs on the radio and think they know a person's catalogue. Just like Willie has done it all, Chris can also do it all, and does. He can do it all from bluegrass to blues to RnB to jazz to country to rock. He's just that guy. People like labels, probably because most artists are fairly limited and excel in one type of music. Chris is Chris. He CAN do country, but he's not ONLY country. His roots are country. He's probably written 100 songs you've heard from other country artists.
