Having not been a 'country fan' for almost all of my 39 years-- after listening to Chris's music a few years back , I decided that I honestly don't care about the genre, I just care about the music itself....and after having listened to all of his albums and all of his live performances/covers, I haven't heard a song yet that I want to skip when it comes on. he's a genre-defying generational talent that has one of the most incredible voices I've ever had the pleasure of hearing as the icing on top. As one of your newest subscribers, I'll request Chris Stapleton - I was Wrong (Austin City Limits live) .....it would be a fitting song to match how he defied the highest of expectations on this one.

You and so many ppl say and likely watch these reactions for the exact reason I do..country has had its moments w me. 8 don't hate it, but I was never blown away by an artist. There was never a country artist that I would go scalp tickets for or over pay for good seats for there show. I virtually hit my bucket list of bands from previous generations in my early 20's ...from Eagles, Clapton, Meatloaf, Mellencamp, Bon jovi..all ppl who could perform..there has been a handful from 90's and early 2000's I saw but Chris I'd pay whatever to see him..may have the chance 8n a couple of weeks. We'll see!
@djdrew31022 жыл бұрын
@@joesmith5097 Definitely do it! When it comes to music, I'm huge on going to shows/concerts and being able to enjoy an artist's live performances. To me, that's where you can clearly see and feel the difference between a good studio artist and one that crushes live shows (or both lol) I've probably been to more than 100 concerts/festivals/shows in the ~15 years leading up to covid ....I had tickets to see Chris in 2020, it was rescheduled to a year later, 8/12/21 in Charlotte, NC... my expectations were sky-high and I'd say he met or exceeded them. Out of the hundreds of performers of many different genres that I've seen play & sing live in my life, Chris is probably one of the only ones I've been lucky enough to witness that felt like the microphone and the audio system , despite sounding incredible while not looking like he's even needing to try TOO hard in front of nearly 20,000 people...it felt like it didn't do full justice to the depth of his voice. The only other time I had that feeling was seeing Robert Plant perform at Bonnaroo 2008....despite his older age, he absolutely crushed it.

@@djdrew3102 I just started a new job, I don't know if scheduling is gonna work out just yet..but I would certainly love to see him asap..I would love to surprise my old man w a ticket to see him together. He introduced me to all the great legends of music as a kid this would be a great b day present if I could swing it. Yes, your 100% correct literally everything your saying regarding true artist, musicians, performers. It's a dying breed...artist are manufactured now 95% of the time! You look right they can make u sound good enough, just check off their checklist, ...control, say and do the right things..it's why it took chris so long to blow up! He doesn't look like Tim Mcgraw..they wanna sell sex not music. Ppl are dying for this, Adele was sexy before she lost weight..hee talent was immeasurable..she was special. I and most men wouldn't take or trust our girl friends or wives around Chris, he doesn't need a six pack and tight jeans to steal my girl. It's just reality! Great music, talent, etc is what it is..it breaks color barriers, genres everything! It's true American culture and it works to well. It's why MTV plays jersey shore or basketball wife's now instead of music videos..it worked to well. Racusm was almost dead for around 10yrs between 95 and 2005..being a racist was embarrassing then now it's all we focus on!

It's a serious rabbit hole and you'll never be disappointed with Chris. He's something special!!

Chris Stapleton is Country but he has a lot of Blues and Soul influence. He is also a traditional Rap fan (which I can't help but think has some influence on the way he structures lyrics). I agree the Austin City Limits performance is the best performance of "Tennessee Whiskey". His normal backup singer is his wife Morgane Stapleton. If you do the 2015 CMA Chris & JT performance I highly suggest treating the pair of songs as one. The energy level just keeps ramping up.
