A great songwriter for COUNTLESS stars for SO MANY YEARS, and now singing his own songs, he deserves his new found fame

He has definitely found it! Songs with Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, and many more! Blurring the lines between genres and making good music!

I don't think bluegrass gets much attention from the music industry. Boy, that song gave me goosebumps.

Chris was already a big name as a song writer. He was working for Sea Gayle Music writing full time. He had six number one songs for people like Luke Byron, Kenny Chesney, Josh Turner and the great George Strait. He'd been on albums from Adele to Brad Paisley and others. He was a star of the stars, which can have advantages over being the star. Like you can still go to dinner without being harassed. Morgane was also a song writer with Sea Gayle and had an office down the hall from him. Someone suggested they write a song together. So she went to his office one night to discuss some ideas. As they put it, they just ended up making out all night. The rest is history. If you haven't yet, you should react to "Can You Run?" by Steeldrivers. It's the only song I know of written from the perspective of a slave. It's also incredibly touching.

New song to me and man, the way that man delivers a lyric and the tone of his voice, it doesn't matter what kind of music he sings, he packs everything with so much feeling. Wow.

Still think the Steeldrivers stuff is the best that Chris has done, so many songs that should be considered classics.

He was well known in the Nashville, many don't know this,he was a song writer for many Country singers and that is why at the awards they said this was long overdue for his music.

Saw the steeldrivers several times. He left them a few years ago. Also cut a album with a band called the Jompson Brothers before the solo album. I think it was more that he was enjoying what he was doing as opposed to not being picked up. Lot of folks don't realize it but at the time that video was made he had already written 4 number one country sounds so he was known in the music community and benefitting from royalty's as a song writer. He's a rare talent no doubt

I thought the exact same thing when I saw him sing "Whisky and You" at a songwriters convention. At the time I just couldn't believe this guy did not have a record deal.

PLEASE do "Blue Side of the Mountain" by the SteelDrivers" and you'll hear some great harmony! Just a note....Chris Stapleton was winning major music awards BEFORE Justin Timberlake sang with him....just sayin'. (and I do love the duo they did together on the Country Music Awards back in 2018) Chris won CMA's Album of the Year for "Traveller" in 2015 and it also won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album in 2016. Chris has continued to win awards every year that followed. Check out his Wikepedia pages. :)

If you want to have your mind blown by the way someone speaks and the way someone sings, listen to Jim Nabors. He was Gomer Pyle in The Andy Griffith Show. He is very famous for singing, " Back Home in Indiana".

I have read up on this guy, and he has been part of the nashville music scene for years. The steeldrivers performed at the grand ol opery also, so it wasnt like he was an unknown. But when he performed at the CMA's in 2015 with Justin Timberlake his solo career took off like a rocket, I agree with you he is an amazing performer.

I have requested the Steeldrivers but I want to see you review "Can You Run". Yes, this was before he was picked up and I have listened to him for years wondering why he wasn't picked up ... the greatest southern voice of our time. But, thanks for reviewing this.

This song reminds me of LIKE A ROCK in the sentiment it expresses. You need to do LIKE A ROCK or any Bob Seger song, he's awesome as well. As always, I love Stapleton's voice; he can sing anything.

The great thing about Chris and JT? As Chris tells it he got a phone call put of the blue from Jessica Biel. She explained that JT was a big fan and she wanted to give him time with Chris for his birthday. Chris being the cool dude that he is said "why not." The rest is CMT history.

New to your channel, have you heard the Philly radio station Chris and beat up guitar “What are you listening to”. Blues, Bluegrass, NewGrass, Country or Great Talent

To me, most live versions of pretty much any genre, any song, is worse than the studio version. Might I emphasize: “TO ME.” But seriously, this is as good, if not better than the studio version. They’re that good. If that doesn’t tell you the quality of the group, nothing does.
