Not everyone can have a “simple” 3 piece band and sound this phenomenal!! No auto tune, no nothing!!!
@pyroman60002 жыл бұрын
I miss the old power trio sound... everyone has plenty of sonic pallette to work with, and nobody is buried in the mix. It changes the way you play. And approach songwriting. You do have to be good, however- EVERYONE hears it if you screw the pooch, lol! Players can use some epic tones, when they dont need to worry about stepping on someone elses feet.

The John Mayer trio was exceptional as well. John’s know for his quirky pop music but musicians know him for his deep blues sounds. He can absolutely shred.

@@poloreacts27 just went to see Stapleton in concert this past Friday...he was simply amazing..I'm a black man from Jamaica but I just love music that sounds good to me..I never dwelled on genre of the race of a singer...if it sounds good that's enough for me.

Stapleton is one of the rare dudes where you wanna hear the live versions. Idk how he’s better live but he is. I think the studio production takes some of the heart of it but the live show lets that show thru.

I don't agree about it taking some of the heart of it. He sings with passion live or recorded. He's one of those very rare artists that, You like this? (studio version) You should hear him live.

Stapleton’s band is really great. Dave Cobb often shows up to play rhythm guitar… JT Cure on bass, Derek Nixon on drums. Morgane Stapleton singing harmony… and sometimes Mickey Raphael on harmonica… sometimes a keys man or steel guitar too, but this core group… is ridiculous. A great bunch of musicians who compliment Chris perfectly.

The bass player in Chris Stapleton’s band is J.T. Cure, from Elkhorn City, Kentucky - J.T. attended Morehead State University (my alma mater) in Morehead, Kentucky. He was there about 10 years after I graduated, but I knew a couple of his music professors, according to the ones he named in an interview I read . Definitely I can hear his bass & guitar professor’s influence. I’m so glad you shouted-out J.T. melodic groove.

It’s really difficult to pick a favorite by Chris, but this song is definitely one of my favs by him.
@Melly012 жыл бұрын
This particular performance is the only one that has this guitar solo. The studio version doesn't have the solo at all. If you like his guitar, check out his cover of Metallica's, "Nothing Else Matters," (Blacklist). He also has unexpected collaborations with Carlos Santana (Joy, which is very Caribbean sounding) and Tom Morello. And H.E.R. There's no box that you can put this man's music in - he loves it all and draws influences from everywhere, which is why he can collab with just about anyone!
@drewsutton97929 ай бұрын
That is almost note for note the same solo that’s on the studio version.
@Melly019 ай бұрын
@drewsutton9792 The studio version is 3:12 long and doesn't have the almost 3 minute guitar solo at the end, like the Austin City Limits performance does (6:04 minutes.) The one in the middle is certainly very similar, if not note-for-note, but the Austin City Limits performance includes that extra guitar solo at the end.

I haven’t heard many of Chris Stapleton’s songs, but have liked his bluesy vibe. My parents played a lot of blues and jazz when I was growing up and I still love that music. You mentioned B. B. King. I saw him perform several times and he is one of my favorites. Joe Bonamassa opened for B.B. king when he was 12 years old. Joe is one of THE best blues guitarists-he was voted 1 last year by Guitar World. He often collaborates with singer Beth Hart. Their live performance of Etta James I’d Rather Go Blind is AMAZING!

Chris can do no wrong, he's a once in a lifetime talent and to think he was just writing music for others until his wife talked him into singing his own music. There are so many great songs for you to check out by Chris, his live versions are always better. One song from back in his songwriting days before he became famous is "Fool me Again", it was on a songwriters cruise and the vocals are insane. Cold is another, Death Row, Mans World (James Brown Cover live) and the only real video he has done is Fire Away a very powerful and emotional song and video...keep up the great reactions man!
