Chase postell: you're not very bright are you? the majority of those turns were due to connie turning floyd around to get him off balance and create an opening, not floyd doing it intentionally. Connie even mentions this after the fight when he says that he was doing it for this specific reason but realized he was wasting too much valuable energy due to the fight being broke up each time it happened. Which the time you're specifically talking about as I recall was called on a low blow which is debatable but regardless of that what connie was doing at the time was also an illegal move so it was going to be broke up regardless. Samuel young: lol and what experience do you have exactly? I assume none with the stupidity you're spewing. ted D: are you kidding me? go watch Skip Bayless on undisputed talk about Conor Mcgregor, that is literally every Connie fan there is. lol ain't a sensible one among ya. That said the reason why floyd and boxing fans are ragging on connie so much is for the fact he ran his mouth so much he tried to ruin the career of 3 different boxers by posting fake and edited nonsense that made him look far better than he is and the boxer like jokes (and was caught doing so) and the fight was nowhere near competitive. Floyd used a style totally unlike his own, went forward the entire time which is a style he hasn't even remotely used in 15 years. Literally let his opponent use him as a punching back for 3 rounds(floyd only threw 19 punches in the first 2 rounds) and those 3 rounds are the ONLY ones connie won. a legit 7-3 isn't competitive let alone when your opponent gives you the 3 lol.

Good analysis but if anybody thought Conor was throwing heat in there they are dumb. He wasnt sitting on his punches because he didnt want to get tired.....then got tired anyways. He should have just thrown heat from the beginning and said screw it.

I agree.
@footballsoccer3587 жыл бұрын
nah, Conors punches are just that much weaker than what people think. It's not dinky 4oz mma gloves these are official boxing gloves. The extra padding makes a HUGE difference. Even Floyd and other boxers said Conor doesn't know how to throw punches with heat in them.
@jm42367 жыл бұрын
footballsoccer358 If he didnt punch hard he would have never knocked Nate Diaz down 3 times (which I've only seen Nate knocked down once with a freaking head kick he leaned into) and he would never have KOd Jose Aldo in 13 seconds who has never been knocked out. He was out of his element. If you have ever seen him fight you can obviously tell he was not throwing heat.

MMA fighters are soft , as soon as they get punch they fall. Boxers punch way harder and are better conditioned.
@eastlamb99497 жыл бұрын
Jason May he was not throwing hi shots as usual because he was in a different stance to his MMA style. It takes years of practice and training to box to a high standard. Shifting weight etc to maximise the power in each shot. Boxers punch much much harder than any MMA fighter because thats what they do.

@dy1204817 жыл бұрын
Good breakdown. One thing I've yet to see mentioned is how smart it was for Mayweather to crowd McGregor. When you watch Conor punch, his punches are "long", if that makes sense. He generally has people at a good distance and hits 'em from fairly far out. It's almost an arm punch with very little rotation or step through. With boxers, they're more rooted and throw short, crisp, compact punches that use basically the whole body. Obviously the distance, fear of takedowns, etc... play into McGregor's punching style, and if anything should illustrate how much natural punching power he has. With that, you could tell he was uncomfortable (or at least unaccustomed) with the shorter, choppier blows and wound up slapping a few punches. With a longer training camp and legit boxing trainers (no offense to his crew) to teach him to translate that power into boxing he would be a MURDEROUS puncher. If he could root and throw a lead check hook followed by a left cross (for example), that's lights out.

Part of how he got tired is because of how hes built. Some people have naturally lower endurance capabilities. Why did it take floyd 5 rounds to take out a gassed out novice. He was obviously going for the knockout since round 5. People aren't giving mcgregor enough credit for first 3 rounds, he almost caught floyd perfectly with that uppercut 3-4 times... so close. People say mayweather wasn't in trouble but he's a master at hiding it, if you watch the fight very closely he did wobble/stumble a couple of times but you got to watch very closely because he hides everything well, his toes folded over at one point. There was several times floyd definitely got stunned. Mcgregor should have known he would gas out and gone for broke early and put full power into shots, only full power shots he done were the uppercut right hook counters, should have mixed it up and done a left counter at some point. He also needs to improve his punching technique to get more power out of other shots. Mcgregor + better endurace + improved punching technique + more experience and I think he would have beaten floyd rather easily.

Floyd knew if he fought the style he usually does, he'd be in trouble against Conor because of the fact the Conor studied Floyd's style, etc., and also because Conor is outstanding at mid and long range punching and counter punching. Also Malignaggi told Floyd that Conor's weakness was inside fighting in the pocket (and also that Conor's cardio dips within rounds 8,9, and 10..and that Conor comes back in the last two rounds 11 & 12). So Floyd knew to get on the inside of Conor's range and pressure just like Nate Diaz did. Yes Malignaggi leaked info to Floyd about Conor but, nevertheless, that's where Floyd's experience paid off. Styles make fights and that's why Floyd knew to change his style tactically because like rock, paper, scissors...Floyd knew he had the paper...

Connor was fatigued.. because he should have fought at 153.. He did not learn from his fights with Diaz.. You can not go from 170 + to 153 and back to 170+ in a matter of days is too much for the body to adapt to.. I am just angry that McGregors camp learnt nothing.. I am also pissed off.. that they did not anticipate and train for body and chest shots.. and I am pissed off that Floyd did not take a blood test.. from USADA after the fight.. in fact told them he was not ready.. and mocked them saying I bet you do. when asked by the USADA representative to take a blood test now. Is Connor a skilled boxer .. clearly not. .too many floppy arm punches.. wasted energy. Connor is a gasser.. has a very tiny tank there.. who knows there may be something medically wrong with him.. Some people just do not have lung capacity. That being said my first point.. surely would be obvious.
