What I don't get in rap in the US is why features or "collabs" have to be a competition? Why does one have to be better than the other? In all genres, and only in the US do I notice this. Isn't it that features are there to make the song better, collaborations are done with the same intention? So I appreciate when you said that Ren was balancing the equation. Kudos to you..

Well can’t speak for other genres but in the culture of Hip Hop specifically, there is a competitive aspect in all the events that make up hip hop ( djing/rap/graffitii/bboying/breaking) so it’s very common in rap because that’s the cultural norm it was born out of, that’s not to say that people don’t collab with the intention to just make an awesome song like what Ren and Chris Webby did here !! But hopefully this explanation helps explain your curiosity 🙏🙏🙏

I love this collab. It works because of Webbys emotional performance deep lyrics and flow, contrasted by Ren's clever lyrics, bars and flow switches, which he's known for. Ren has this thing where he is very captivating on camera added by his natural acting ability, confidence and charisma. They have great chemistry and both really want to work together again. Btw, I think the Eminem is intentional. Ren always pays homage in one way or another to the greats but always switches it up as he did in the ladder part. Most rapper reactors realized it right away as well knowing it was intentional.
