IKR, that costs more than my new compound bow did, I got mine for $200 on sale when it normally is $300. My bow is the Cabela's Optimus bow. Shoots like a dream to me and is very accurate, just as accurate as a $2000 bow is, lol. Very light, very adjustable, just perfect for me. Feels great.

The price has come down $30 on Amazon to $259 including shipping. This is still an expensive release, but it works. Like a lot of archers, I started with the less expensive trigger releases. I then decided to try the thumb release styles. I just recently sold my $200 "Knock 2 It" release and went to the Goat. The Goat feels a bit more secure and fits naturally into my hand in the exact same place every time. Comfort, repeatability and hitting the X when I point at it are all important to me which is why I decided to pay the extra dollars for this release. One option Chris did not talk about is that you can also use this release with the barrel removed. It then becomes a hybrid of the two styles. With the barrel removed, your thumb will then compress more naturally on the release button as the back tension is increased, so the release is more of a surprise. This is the setup I successfully use for eliminating target panic. It is simple, it works and it has improved my accuracy and consistency between shots. If you are satisfied with the release you have, then stay with it. However, if you are searching for a top performing release, the Tru Ball GOAT is a release worth looking at.

First of all you are interchanging the ideas of back tension and hinge, they are two different things. Back tensions depends on how much holding weight you are carrying and adjusting your release to give way when you reach a few more pounds than holding way. Hinge is when you get to full draw and you apply pressure with your middle finger and release pressure with your index until you hit the angle that the hinge gives way. Please don't confuse these people lol.
@TheIngoBeck5 жыл бұрын
You literally have ZERO clue what you're yakking about. You're referring to a RESISTANCE release like a Carter Evolution or Stan Element. ANY release can be fired with back tension but hinge releases are MOST commonly referred to as "back-tension" releases.
