This is my dream right here! I've contemplated buying a 3D printer to do a life size Raph for my gym and this isn't helping my impulse buying. I'm beyond jealous and I can't wait to see it finished! Cheers

When putting to big pieces together, have you ever though about gluing in a few pegs on the inner part of the parts as a guideline? to rest on as it would make it easier to line those legs and arms up to assemble. Then all you would have to do is baking soda the area and glue it. Love watching your channel on your props you make. Keep up the great work.
@ChrisBoshProps4 ай бұрын
That's a pretty good idea but I've been gluing large props together for so long im kind of use to aligning parts by feel. Creating posts in the model would just tale up to much time and might or might not work depending on the model. Thanks for your comment!

I ordered a Raphael mask prop from a company almost a year ago now... still waiting on that order to be fulfilled. I wasn't 3d printing back then. The mask and hands cost me more than a Neptune 4 max or about what a p1p costs.

Hey Tyler I appreciate you sharing that, I think you proved my point about cost when it comes to being able to do this on your own versus paying someone through the roof for one that probably doesn't look as good as this model. PLA is brittle enough that I would be worried about putting all that work in on something that could shatter if it falls over. I hope you are least using PLA + , or PLA Pro, or some other version of tougher PLA. When you do the video of it in it's final state, please let us know how many total hours of printing, and kilo's of filament it took. I don't plan on building one myself, but I'm always curious what it takes to do something so huge. Thanks!

I have a Neptune 4 Max on the way. Have read some horror stories with getting it setup and functioning. Did you have to do any tweaking or just update to latest firmware and roll with it? How long did you let the bed heat soak before starting the print?
@ChrisBoshProps4 ай бұрын
To be honest, I bought a used Neptune 4 Max from Elegoo on their site for 300 bucks and it was practically new. I think the used 4 max was so cheap because of the bad reviews which Im now thankful for. The printer has been nothing but awesome and works amazing. After initial set up the only issue I've had is the default Neptune 4 Max profile in Orca slicer sucks and the quality suffers with a lot of stringing and underextrusion in spots with various models. I switched over to my Simplify3D slicer and used their profile and the Neptune 4 Max prints flawlessly. I soon realized that nothing is really wrong with the printer itself but its mostly slicer issues with bad profiles for gcode. The used Neptune 4 Max came with the latest firmware and I haven't had to upgrade anything. A little trick for proper bed adhesion is make sure your bed is clean and buy a can of Aquanet hair spray. Spray the hair spray on a microfiber cloth and rub it on the bed. It works perfect if your bed is nice and level.

@MMQsTacosConLimons4 ай бұрын
Man what are your settings? Dope job looks perfect. What slicer u use?
@ChrisBoshProps4 ай бұрын
I think the texture on this model helps it to print a lot smoother then if it were just a smooth surface. I used Simplify3D to print the entire model. Orca slicer, Cura, and Prusa slicer were unable to slice the model due to the texture, they just all would freeze and hang. This is where Simplify3D reigned supreme over all the freewares and why its worth paying for because its not problematic and complicated like the freewares.
