I had an opposite experience with this car. Had it for 6 years and it was 2001. It's junk and is a rust bucket. Bottom of the car rusted like crazy until pieces began to fall apart along the side fenders. Got rid of it in 2012 when a truck hit the drivers side and damaged the whole side. I collected insurance money and sold as is. That was the best way to get rid of that junk.

Can sell on sites like ebay and craigslist. You can also sell to a junkyard/parts trader. Always check to see if the car has an online forum following. Join the forum and sell the parts there too. Why dealers tell me my car is only worth $500 max, for the entire car.. You make it seem like I could get more Chris.
@swaggin63148 жыл бұрын
Because dealers resell and they wanna make money too
@DilanGilluly8 жыл бұрын
You can get more by parting it or selling it yourself. But the question is how much are you willing to sacrifice for the convenience of pawning it off for a new car right then and there?
@mcdrums878 жыл бұрын
Dealers don't just need to make money. They would also have to pay for labor to strip the car, which eats into their ability to turn a profit. So if you want to make more by parting out your car, do it yourself, OR find a friend to help you strip it and share the profits with him. Regardless, you probably aren't going to get more than $500 out of your car without investing your time.
@mcdrums878 жыл бұрын
Just some math on this: Chris probably spent ~1-1.5 working days (8-12 man-hours) stripping the car himself. Google is telling me that low estimates for mechanics are $70-90 per hour. At that rate, it would cost at least $560 to strip the car (on the low end).
@rosegold-beats8 жыл бұрын
dont sell your car to a dealer unless you want it fast.

Out with the old, in with the Maserati
@warriorharj795 жыл бұрын
He still goes back to the old videos!!
@dmurray914 жыл бұрын
This made me laugh. I just hate all the crap people gave him about the Maserati. He canceled a video because people were shaming him because he cares about his dad and was able to give his dad an incredible gift? It just like all the jokes about not seeing his face. It’s not about that, the channel is about DIY and the Maserati video SHOWED us that you could have a luxury car of your own for a fraction of a fraction of the cost. It’s about doing things yourself and giving back both to yourself and other hence all the charity stuff he has done over the years.
@hermanwooster89444 жыл бұрын
@@dmurray91 I loved watching the Maserati video. It shows how luxury cars depreciate far quicker than regular cars and how that can be used to your advantage. I've researched cars in-depth for a year now and one thing that really stood out is the need to "get ahead" of the game -- that is, to make buying your next vehicle financially easier than the last time. Buying used and avoiding the initial depreciation cost is one of many ways to get ahead.
