Hey Chris, love your vidoes ! Thank you!I have a question unrelated to fuel filters - If someone lives in an area where it snows and you get salt on your car on a regular basis in the winter from the road should you be washing your car more frequently or not? I see people washing them every day, they look nice but I'm just wondering if the salt going on and off the body and undercar may increase corrosion or actually decrease it if at all?
@chrisfix8 жыл бұрын
+TransHerring Thanks man! My cars are all in the Northeast so we get snow and tons of road salt. I live near the ocean too so I get ocean salt as well. It is tough because in the winter, it is hard to clean your car. In the fall I put a good coat of wax on my cars which protects the paint. I also paint all of my undercarriage when I buy a car (like my truck) which helps prevent rust and damage. I would keep my hose inside my house or garage where it wont freeze and every month hose down the car (touchless). Dont dry it our anything, just hose it off to get as much salt off. Do that on the underside too. If you can bear it, then use soapy water and give it a good rinse. Good luck!

Hi Chris, I had an engine shut down while driving. The engine oil light was on, the steer wheel was super heavy, and there was no way to restart the engine. My mechanic checked it. The engine oil level was ok, the fuel tank was almost full, and there was no code from the car computer. At last, the engine restarted all of sudden after several times of trying by stepping down the gas paddle while ignition. What could be the reason for this problem? Thank you.

Hey Chris. I noticed there was some pressure in the fuel line when you loosened up the first flair nut. Would taking the gas cap off have relieved that pressure and minimized that fuel spray?
@chrisfix8 жыл бұрын
The gas cap has nothing to do with the fuel line pressure. The only way to bleed it out is to get a fuel pressure gauge and purge it at the fuel rail. Since pulling the fuel pump fuse did help, there is only a little pressure vs the typical ~50psi

Dear Chris, my fuel filter is inside my fuel pump, which is inside my gas tank. Is it worth trying to change it or should I buy a whole new pump?
@TheBmxer7858 жыл бұрын
Replace your fuel filter not the pump. Those pumps should go out at most once every 200k miles on a vehicle and a fuel filter is every 20k. Youll save a lot of money by just doing the filter

Hey Chris, I noticed you used an aluminum drip pan.. 👍🏽👍🏽 TWO THUMBS UP for safety!! It would be a good tip to tell your viewers to be sure to use a metal or rubber drip pan whenever they're working with gasoline because plastic naturally builds static electricity. The chances are slim that there will be an ignition but there is that chance. Especially if the pan gets moved around - as it slides on the ground, more static electricity builds. 💣 Thanks for the great how-tos. You've saved me lots of money since I stumbled across your channel.
@williamhartman12396 жыл бұрын
Always polished and well produced. What about the fuel filters that are now an integral part of the fuel pump which is located in the fuel tank? Do you wait until the pump fails? This would entail emptying the tank, dropping the tank and then the fuel filter if you could actually buy it separately from the pump.

I just replaced a fuel filter in my 1999 Chevrolet Suburban @ 450,000 miles. It had a minuscule amount of rust from being exposed to Michigan road chemicals.

My Toyota dealership said my 2012 2.5L Camry needs immediate attention on the "Condition of Fuel System." I'm not 100% sure what that means, and I notice it has bit poor gas mileage. They said additional service recommended on the EFI. Do u know what they're trying to tell me?

Words cannot express the frustration involved with doing this on a late model c4. Chris, you make it look really easy but GM, you clearly had some R&D issues in 1993 😅😤

Today I saw a blue Civic(Regular one not the Si like in the seafoam in a car test video) driving around in Phoenix with a license plate that said "CRISFIX". Know anything about that? Maybe someone liked your channel enough to customize their plate with your name?

My 2009 Subaru legacy does not start. Just got my belts changed and while driving everything shut off. Battery and Alternator checked out good, and the fuel pump sounds like its getting primed. Fuses seem to be good too, not sure if its a starter issue...any ideas?

I have a 1995 Toyota 4Runner, and I just replaced the fuel filter, but it leaks out of the fuel outlet side. We’ve tightened it as tight as humanly possible and it still leaks. Any tips?

Hi Chris! While speaking about fuel filter, what about "Clean your fuel injectors" video? Because if someone has really old, dirty fuel filter, then he will probably need this done too :)

Curious, looking at my service manual for my diesel it says replace fuel filter every 25k km. But there's no replace interval listed in my father's car manual / service manual etc. Alldata says replace when there's symptoms. Is there a good time to do this? what symptoms would I be looking for?

Chris how do I change a fuel filter in a gas tank I own a 2017 camry le and I'm getting poor gas mileage and the acceleration is worse I changed just about everything with Toyota parts. I suspect it's the fuel filter

I have a Holden Vectra, the manual says that the fuel filter is located in the bonnet on right hand side.

BIG FYI break both nuts loose BEFORE you loosen or remove filter holder. I had to put the bracket back on bc I couldn't break loose a 20 yr old nut on a wobbly filter.

Watching this video made me realize that cars have become so complicated. Our ‘52 Plymouth had a glass 🥃? Filter by the carburetor! One simply dump the gasoline out and reposition it in its holder.

Do you have to bleed the gas lines now? Edit: I have a 74 FJ40 and I changed the fuel filter, but it still won't start. I thought maybe air in the lines would stop gas going to the carb.
