Thank you for this tour. The main draw here for members of the Mormon church is the restored temple. Like all Mormon temples this is where sacred family sealing ordinances take place. Very important to have done before you leave Earth.

On the left at 10:54 is Jonathan Browning's (yes, "the" famous Browning) gunsmith shop. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church. He and his son John Moses Browning invented some of the world's most famous firearms. Visit in the summer when it's open for tourists.

It is such an amazing town! I got to spend an entire summer there, and plan to do so again. When it's not 2020, the historic parts are full of visitors, guides giving amazing tours, fun activities for kids and adults, and so much more! There is even a Brass Band that goes around on a horse drawn wagon, and a cast of singers and dansers who put on plays and concerts. There is never a time when you can't find fun and educational things to do in Nauvoo.

Imagine what it looked like back in the 1830's when Joseph Smith came into the area and how the land was developed. It's such a priceless pure place. You can feel the spirit there soo strongly while your driving along the road and visiting the many historic places.

So so beautiful and true nostalgia for me. Saw this place in 1964 when 12 y.o. Thank you so much for going there with the narration and spot on music. It amazes me how in a 16 minute video you can show the many reasons to check this place out including history and natural beauty.

I have to agree with Jennifer and Julius. So very thankful for the tour, but feel that the name of the church being condensed and comments about christians was purposeful to cause viewers, that don't know, think that the church is not a christian religion. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has a sad history of religious persecution and members are grateful to those who take the time to learn about us and our history.
@jennifernorris86613 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the drive-through. Lovely music too. Would be appreciated if you would use the full and official name of the church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Given the comment about other religions ‘including Christians,’ I’d almost think the slight was intentional. Thanks.
@juliusschwencke1423 жыл бұрын
..have to agree. Such a sad episode in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Properly referring to the church by it's full name would go some way in recognizing the tragedy of religious intolerance that was part of the history of western Illinois. Perhaps deleting the name of Jesus Christ in the title of the church, made it easier to forgo its inclusion as a Christian denomination in the narration? A wonderful view of Nauvoo nonetheless. Greetings from New Zealand.

For members of the Church that’s important, but not necessarily so for non members. You will never get others to change the usage of Mormon. Even most Mormons still use it. It’s not a commandment.

Can you redo the driving video down Warren Avenue from Mack to Where it ends like you did back in 2017?

Also since you deleted the (Mack, Grand Blvd, Jefferson & I-94 Edsel Ford Fwy) videos i assume you're redoing them too?

👀👀 Didn’t know that anyone would’ve been able to put two and two together. I hadn’t uploaded in over a year when I decided to take everything down and start from scratch in January. New channel name and everything. I deleted each and every one of my old videos under the old channel branding as they were of such garbage quality. I decided to start over completely. I’m sure that I’ll re-film those eventually, but I don’t know when that would be. Stay tuned!

@@ChrisHarden the reason I pieced it together is because I remember asking you to do the (Warren Ave, I-94, Mack Ave And Jefferson) videos all the way back then but I can't wait to see a improved version of the earlier videos you made

Nauvoo is a pretty nice little town but it's way out of the way - you won't go there unless you GOING there. It's especially interesting to see all the old buildings down where the town used to be. There's a nice B&B that's in a house that was owned by some mormon guy way back when. And they have real good night skies in that area.

The church is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (not the Church of Latter Day Saints) and was named by Jesus Christ himself. It is his church and he instructed those that believed in and followed after him to call it by his name to glorify himself and his Father who sent him. The Saints did not abandoned Nauvoo, they were driven out by threats of violence and death by the so called Christians in the area. Hundreds of Saints died in Nauvoo and Winter Quarters from disease, malnutrition, or exposure to the elements as a result of persecution in addition to leaders and members that were murdered. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are Christians who believe in Father in Heaven, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Time is running out and the Savior is returning very soon! A warning to all!
