So nearly 8 years after this video was posted and it sowed a seed in my mind. I took delivery of a 2014 Ferrari FF. It is without doubt the most special vehicle I have ever owned/driven. Two days into ownership the oil cooler failed. It's gone to a dealer to be repaired, but I just don't care, I can't wait for it to return. As Chris says, it is an event every time it's driven. I have had nothing but positive reactions to the car. It is simply gorgeous to drive. Fuel consumption is tragic and you just don't care. The Auto mode is genuinely useable. To say I'm happy is an understatement, I feel genuinely greatful that I'm in a position to own this car, there's a chance there may never be anything like it (or the Lusso) again.

At an exponentially smaller scale than you, I’m experiencing something similar with my GR Yaris, which is my first ‘cool’ car. I can only imagine what it must be like with an automotive masterpiece like an FF. Congratulations and drive it in good health.

This is precisely the reason why I prefer the FF to the F12, and the one Ferrari which I would actually love to own. Its like a bigger, more grown up and more expensive alternative to the 911. A wagon that can take four people and their luggage and just happens to have a V12 with around 600hp and goes more than 200mph. I envy you Chris, for owning this. Great review and well done!
@harryc26610 жыл бұрын
Why would you compare a 911 to a ff? You really don't know cars at a.l..
@longtailgt10 жыл бұрын
You really don't know what you're talking about. I never compared the two. I just said that the FF feels like a bigger, better and more expensive 911. Nowhere in there did I say that it was 911 vs FF.
@thedon00810 жыл бұрын
***** Then someone could also say that a bus is a bigger, better, and more expensive estate, but it wouldn't mean it makes sense. You are comparing them if one is "bigger, better and more expensive". That's what comparing means.
@blanntaka10 жыл бұрын
you called it an alternative to a 911... i don't get why anyone would buy a fucking 4 seater ferrari.. i'd rather have a S-class

how is that mental? Why would you earn money if not for spending it on the things you dreamed of?
@Andre_J_Rydlewski10 жыл бұрын
I am driving an old S4 that consumes basically all of the money I can spend on anything besides necessities. I guess it's fair enough in a scale. It's not that Chris is starving because of the Ferrari, is it?
@MichaelMurd10 жыл бұрын
***** Buying any 'luxury' car is financially 'mental' really, but you have to balance fun and future in life. As cliche as it sounds, there is a small chance you will die tomorrow and you will have never experienced the fun. I don't understand why people pick on others for cars, yet no one questions the ones who have 3-5 kids and sends them all to private schools... that basically destroy 99% of families chances of ever being very wealthy.

Chris thank you for this video! I thought about getting a ACR Viper but one of these came up for just a few bucks more, and it will allow me to get into the Ferrari club and make the step up to the GTC4 Lusso later when someone else takes the deprecation hit. I was scared of buying a Ferrari before but now anything above a 2014 has the 7 year Ferrari care package and all you need to pay for is brakes tires and such. Been a massive car guy all my life and cars and bikes have motivated me to do more than the average bear to get where I want to be, and drive what I want to drive. So thanks for keeping the dreams coming brother! It can be done if you want it bad enough, you just have to figure out if you wan to eat Ramen and drive a FF or whatever exotic you want or eat steak and drive a hooptie. The choice is yours.

I was lucky enough to get myself a ride in an FF last year. it was a full spec model in white with red upholstery and I have to say, that the FF is one of the greatest cars I've ever been in. what stunned me was the versatility of it, you could reasonably use it as an everyday car. but when you put your foot down it kicks you up the backside and really shocks you into reality, your at the wheel of a V12 Ferrari. it really is just something else entirely.

My pops bought one used after showing him this video. We lost a metric boatload of money on the resale, but everything Chris said is true, the car just made you feel special. We had to compromise on the spec, color was off pearl white (20k option) so we had to immediately wrap the damn thing front to back because if the paint chipped you have to paint the entire car. It came without scuderia shields on the sides under the mirrors. Black and white diamond stitched interior which looked a bit cheap, but that never mattered. We tore up the Michigan roads summer-winter with proper snow tires!

I disagree that a Ferrari is 3 cuts above any other reasonably priced car. These days, all car manufacturers have the capability to make such a car as this Ferrari, engineering-wise, but can price it reasonably by selling many more. Exclusivity-wise, yes a Ferrari is 3 cuts above just because they choose to only make about 2000. That to me is artificial. But technically, the Ferrari is not 3 cuts above, maybe 1/2 a cut above and any other car manufacturer is just a CEO's decision away from making a similar car and undercutting Ferrari. That said, CH is himself 3 cuts above most auto journalists in ways technically, insightfully, clarity, relevancy.
@Rodrigoxki10 жыл бұрын
i think it is 3 cuts above dude i (unfortunately) never had the pleasure of driving one but from what i've watched/read, there's just something magical in driving their cars and if any other manufacturer could do what they do, they would. they just can't

Tbh, after watching this brilliant video (Another good job, Chris!), I now lust after this car more than an F12 or a 458. I like the idea of owning a four seater Ferrari which would monster a 911 Carrera S, F430, any Maserati or Aston. It might even give a 599 a run for its money too. And after all that, I can still pamper myself in a sea of soft leather and V12 music. And I can drive around some of my mates too. I think this car is just ridiculous and astonishing. Just can't quite understand why not many of these were sold. And I LOVE this car in Tour De France Blue colour. Chris chose the right colour for this (not red).

I was not a fan of the hatchback look but you convinced me it’s a pretty small price to pay for a practical, everyday supercar. Great vid!

I've wondered what it would really be like to own this car for a while and I'm glad you wondered the same thing. Good video xx

I've always like the fact that Harris buys cars he likes, unlike the majority of auto journalist who just free load off of loaners.

I couldn't agree more with you onn the FF being one of my dream Ferraris. It really is the best everyday supercar with looks to die for and scape to live with... Keep up the great work Chris

Catchpole is a roadie, but I didn't know you were a mountain biker, Chris. My two favorite car journos cross over into my favorite sport - perfect!

really loved the video! Interesting perspective you come at us from, being the actual owner yet staying professional about it. When I dream about which Ferrari I'd like one day if I actually can afford one, it'd be this one. Purely because I can use it all the time, everywhere and still be comfortable, blisteringly (is that a word?) fast and have REAL space for passengers and/or luggage. thanks for uploading

I appreciate your honesty on finance aspect of these cars Chris. Hard work to own a nice car (even $20,000 is a huge amount to me!) I've gone without a car since 2002, moved to japan to get the car i want, now working on saving up the full amount so i can own it outright. No kids, no marriage, no holidays. I wouldnt be able to afford it otherwise. Major sacrifice! Not a great idea, not a good idea but i love my cars :)
