watching you guys reminds me of my childhood fishing the Schuylkill . We would walk along the river finding hooks and string to fish with. We used rocks and stones for weights and always caught some nice Carp and Catfish

I love a good baitcaster combo. The one you caught the 25.3lb flathead on is real nice. I have an old Abu Garcia baitcaster reel that I built out of parts that I had laying around when I was in my early teens and I still have it. I've caught shark and tarpon with it and it still works like new. I haven't been fishing in years and I miss it. I still have a few really nice rods and reels, I should reline them and get back to it with my sons. It's just hard for me to justify spending $40 for a fishing license to only go a few times a year.

@stumpbumpers7 жыл бұрын
I've had fish break off, only to re-catch it a short while later with my rig/lure in its mouth. I recall many situations i have caught the same fish more than once and consider it fairly common. A recent occurrence was, when my son had a bass bust off a spinner bait last week and later watched the same bass leap out of the water with the spinner bait in its mouth. So, he cast to it and caught it again and got his spinner bait back. The bass was a healthy 3ish pound adult. Fish that are feeding are not reasoning the situation, they are not any more educated by being caught. I wish I could remember the study that was done, but it showed that a large mouth bass has about a 5 minute "reset" after you miss it. I have used this to my advantage many times after a big hit and miss. I give it a few minutes and then hit the same spot, better prepared. I was raised on the water and would wade fish grass beds and piers. Occasionally when not targeting panfish, I would catch and release bass. I would catch the same bass, in the same spot, on the same rubber worm, almost like clock work on different days. Catfish are just as predatory and territorial. As long as you are fishing with bait they eat, it is possible to catch the same big cats over and over. They are not going to change their diet or loose their appetite. Appetite is not voluntary, it is involuntary need and to a predator, it is what drives them.

it works for more than catfish ive caught a 7 pound striper in a river with it
@MyBallsUrJaws8 жыл бұрын
+Ricky “Strawhatfisherman” Hendricks I could see it stripers are super opportunistic. I've caught em as a kid as big as 10 lbs on chicken liver. now as an adult I catch em in fresh water rivers with huge live shad. 40 inch fish aren't uncommon. that's in Kentucky. I live just north in Ohio and fish big cats in my spare time and there are plenty of striper and hybrid striper on our rivers just not over 20lbs at least that I've encountered
