this, is my favorite spot you've shown so far. reminds me of a pond I grew up fishing for bass, bluegill, crappie, channel and bullhead catfish, carp. I loved that lake. the city drained it, dredged it out and put concrete edges. Its never recovered 15 years later, it's dead. Awesome video

Hi Chris I’m mailing from Canada been here for 30 years but I was born in London, and your vid’s, technics remind me of when I was a boy fishing in the canals around London, I’m still an avid fisherman, but a lot of different species over here compared to British fishing, not better or worse , but watching your vids is refreshing to watch, and you do a great job and know what your talking about it seams, keep up the good work, I loved the forgotten pond especially thanks and best regards Jimi Dunn

Hello ... good videos! I have stopped using two treble hooks when fishing for pike .... they get hurt as do I sometimes! If the lure has two trebles I remove one depending on their positioning. I suppose I miss the odd pike but I still catch a good few too!

Great video Curious if there is any big huge blue gills, perch, bass or even catfish besides pike. Try using live bait night crawlers, crickets, grasshoppers, small blue gills for bait, surface baits for bass like jitter bugs and huller hoppers. Even fish off the bottom using corn and crawlers for bottom feeders like catfish and carp just to see if their are other kinds of large fish in the pond.

I think your drag is sometimes set too light... Set as light as that with a lively fish attached, you'll pick up too much line twist with a fixed spool outfit. You do seem to have a way of getting among them! Light rods can lack the backbone needed to set a decent hookup if you've moved to a bait with bigger hooks... I think that's why you lost that heavy fish, looked like a solid take too, very nicely filmed.

Probably because he has his drag set so loose they just seem to fight longer. Most anglers would have had that in a lot quicker without getting run ragged.

The best bait I ever used for rock bass or blue gills was grasshoppers. The moment they hit the water I caught a fish. However It does take a while to catch them and you have to hook them behind the head. The man from fish creek aventures used a artificial bait lure that was just like a grasshopper. He caught many large blue gills, rock bass, and small bass with this lure. You ought to try it just to see what you can catch. You should catch some fish that you can use for bait to catch more gaint pike or bass.

Everyone should know this. When you real in it puts a twist in line everytime the bail arm revolves. When you play a fish on the clutch, the twist remains in you line. Some of the twist comes out with a swivel sure but not all which will lead to tangles. Tight untwisted lines, everyone.

Fish blood coagulates better in water than in air. That's why they seem to bleed so bad from small wounds out of the water. I looked into this one day I caught a large bass and he was bleeding bad from the gills. When I put him back It looked like he had a red ribbon trailing from his gill. All the blood that was on its side solidified when I put it back.
