I really like this series of videos, because you can apply it to more than just an Ender 3 printer. Many of these settings can be tested and tweaked to make all your printers (if you have multiple manufacturers and/or nozzle diameters) print better. Keep going!!

And Chris knocks it out of the ball park yet again. That's got to be the most in-depth video on any slicer that covers what the settings do and with visual prints. One thing I have noticed with using Prusaslicer with my Ender 3 is when it comes to dimensional accuracy. Parts just don't like fitting together without either trimming or sanding. Any chance you could do a video on that?

Thanks Andy, that's interesting. Let me do some tests and see what I come up with.

Fantastic PrusaSlicer configuration guidance. I don’t have an Ender 3, but primarily use PrusaSlicer with all my printers. While my configs seem pretty well tuned, I’m going to go back slowly with the configs up on my other screen and try a few of your tips. Thanks!

Awesome vid! Hey just FYI, you can change the retraction on the build plate. Set up the printer to have "multiple extruders". Then assign one extruder to each model on the build plate, ie multiple retraction towers. Each extruder can have its filament retraction settings dialed in independently.

Thanks, that's an interesting tip, I will have to try that.

Great video. Thorough as usual. You ticked a lot of the boxes that you needed to for a new printer/user. 👍Glad to see PrudaSlicer getting exposure in videos. Coming from S3D is was a bit of a learning curve in how "automatic" and percent-of values were calculated. For the newbies to aspire to after some hardware mods, I'm running 47min benchies now.

Chris, I've heard guys talk about storing their rolls of filament in zip-lock bags with desiccant in them for fear of moisture. You've just got yours hanging open on the wall. Is moisture not a concern?
@ChrisRiley4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin, it depends what it is. PLA/ABS I don't really worry about, it doesn't impact the printing of it much. PETG doesn't like it much, but when it starts to print badly, I dry it for 4 hours or so and it's good a new. They ones I really worry about are nylons and flexibles. I keep all these in dry boxes.

Hello Chris, I have a technical question for you! I am building the ABL that you showed in your video during the modification of the Ender 2 and also on my Ender 2! What are the values of the 2 resistors you used for it! Are they coal or metal film resistors and what percentage (tolerance)? I would be very happy to hear from you! best regards: Werner
@ChrisRiley4 жыл бұрын
You will need a 10k and a 1k to make the voltage regulator. They are metal film, here are the ones I use. www.amazon.com/ARCELI-100Values-1000pcs-Resistor-Assortment/dp/B07PXYVP3J/ref=sr_1_13?crid=21NPS2V8AB9AT&keywords=resistors&qid=1582755649&sprefix=resistors%2Caps%2C208&sr=8-13

Chris, Im getting weird issues with prusaslicer and my Ender 3. On retract moves, not all the time but most of the time the extruder will sit there and force a bunch of filament any idea what could be causing this? Has anyone else had this issue?

Very informative, I've read that you should be doing the single wall extrusion print with two perimeters. What are your thoughts? www.desiquintans.com/flowrate Also when examining the benchy, the first inconsistent layer you point out supposedly can be fixed by printing the benchy rotated on a 45 degree angle. This was a tip that came from FilamentFrenzy, I have yet to try it myself but it seems to be an artifact of the 3D model.
@ChrisRiley4 жыл бұрын
The two perimeters can be good if there exterior issues. I will get into more of this in later videos I hope. Turning the model can change up somethings, but it depends a lot on the slicer. Tom knows his stuff, so I trust what he says. I have had no luck with that trick in this case.
