This is the video and song that hooked me to Home Free just after the first listen :) I'm not going to lie, it took me 3 plays to realize there were no instruments. :) I have always loved this Christmas song and that is part of why I hit a random link to a video by a group I never heard of before. Adam really knocked this one out of the park. He should arrange more :) I had him show me how he created that opening sound for my personal Patreon video and as luck would have it they shot those during the Florida part of the tour so he also told me more during UVIP next night. So amazing how a simple sound when amplified can sound. Just wow. :)

I don't listen to alot of music, but this one is so captivating, one can't help but watching it over and over, I'm not even sure if one could even critique it, there's nothing to critique, it's perfection, from harmony, placement, scenery, and the beatboxing is astounding. I could just imagine what the little drummer boy would sound like. Actually I can imagine it, and it brings tears to my eyes when I do. If I had to rate this between a one and ten I couldn't since it's worthy to be rated in triple digits.

This has been my favorite Christmas song for years and I was very excited when we sang this in high school. That was many many years ago and I was still singing the harmony part I learned back then because it sounded nice. Until you guys. Now this is my favorite arrangement. My choir teacher loved to discuss every bit of a song we were going to sing (before we sang one note) and the only part of the discussion I can recall after all these years is about how simple this song starts out and then gets more complicated until then end. Not that it's important, but it's a fond memory. Thank you for the memory and a wonderful video that still gives chills and smiles each time when watched/listened to! ^_^

When someone doesn't know Home Free, I send them to 3 videos: "Man of Constant Sorrow," "Wake Me Up," and "Do You Hear What I Hear?" If that doesn't make them fall in love with the band, then there's nothing more I can do for them. (I sometimes swap out "Wake Me Up" but the other two never vary.) I loved hearing all the BTS info! Brilliant idea, to react to videos you were in. Helps make your channel one of the most interesting music channels on KZbin.

The Minnesota Ice Castle, the cool colors, the beautiful music and you guys all looking great were awesomely amazing! Not to mention all of the harmonies and wonderful layers woven into the arrangement. As I am writing this it is July but I love listening to Christmas any time of the year. I listened to one of your solo videos the other day and didn't realize that you could sing Baritone and Bass as well as those beautiful higher octaves. I am happy that you branched out into a solo career but having started Home Free with Adam, your reaction and critique of these videos show that Home Free will always have a special place in your heart. Hey Adam! Is this rumor true? I heard that when you filmed this that it was so cold that when you each sang the words and music immediately froze (like you said " what you are seeing coming from our mouth is our breath!") and fell to the ground so that Jimmy filmed the song that day but had to come back and capture the words and music as they thawed and became audible as it warmed up. Then he had to take the audio back to the studio and match it up with the video! LOL Great reaction/critique to your selves making amazing music together. And, as one commentator said, it would be great if 7th Avenue could do a collaboration with Home Free. Not only you guys sounding fantastic, but I think your sister's voice would possibly cause a fracture in space-time because it would sound so wonderful when combined with the rest of the group!

Hey Chris, hope everyone is well. "Adam did the arrangement" "Starts with drum sounds" Go figure. :-/ :-) "Oh yeah, I look GOOD" You are going to look better and better to yourself, looking back, as you age. One of the rather few things that gets BETTER, actually, depending on how you look at it. Do you know what Tim's bottom chest note is? Just curious. The way he speaks, it's gotta be down there pretty low. Some of Austin's vocal effects are very nice, and not often heard, at least not by me. I like the bit of yodeling he put in one (Denver's "Thank god I'm a Country Boy", I think) , and he did it very well. How weird is it that the "best location you ever shot at" was free, and came with lighting? Stranger than friction. It WAS a very cool location (sorry), I remember my wife and I commenting on it to one another at the time. As always, enjoyed it.

I watch this video several times a year, every year. It's my very favorite of all the Home Free videos. I think one of the reasons I love Adam's beatboxing--especially in this one--is because I played the cornet through high school and onward, until about 15 years ago. My idol during high school was Herb Alpert (and his Tijuana Brass). One of my favorites of his from back then was this one: (Acapulco 1922) kzbin.info/www/bejne/haG5fmxpfKiDeqM . It was one of my favorites to play, and I did the whistling part, too. ;-) Back in the 80s, we would attend every Phil Driscoll concert we could. This was one of my favorites of his: (Because He Lives) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmXOnZWIi7h7eNk . Another reason I love this particular video is because of growing up in Valdez, Alaska--more snow, most years, than anywhere else in the U.S. Also, we now live in the furthest NE corner of South Dakota (where both of my parents were born and raised), and we get very similar weather to what Minnesota has. :-D I also love Adam's introduction to the song, in the KZbin description. \0/ Thanks very much, Chris, for analyzing this--I really enjoyed enjoying it again, through your perspective. HUGS!
