My ex wants to be friends with me, but I don’t relish the idea of being friendzoned, so I told him to just leave me alone for a few years until we’ve both moved on and then, perhaps someday in the future, we can be friends if our paths ever cross again. I’m still hurting from our break-up, so I can’t imagine a life right now, where he and I can have conversations and I can be there for him to offer emotional support in any way when in reality, he’s the one that decided that I wasn’t good enough for him. If I’m not good enough for him, he can go and find someone else to be his friend. I’m out!!!

@@benhartart9487 It's very common actually for women, to try end re-enter a men's life even after 5-10 years of NC. It's not about a friendschip but the dude upping his value. Sticking around as a friend "hoping" to get back with your ex will only hurt you, very low value behavior.

I don’t think you can be friend zoned by an ex… you’ve already slept with them and been intimate. Physical Attraction doesn’t just disappear…. There will always be that temptation to sleep together. Emotional attraction does disappear, and that’s what you need to work on when you are being their “friend”.

I see a lot of comments with a common theme, here’s a different view point. Do not try to be friends right after a breakup, before you’ve healed and been able to move on. Trying to be friends just so the breakup pain doesn’t hurt as much is selfish and not helpful for either person. Do not stay friends desperately hoping to get back. Stay friends if it’s a good connection that’s mutually beneficial where you can be you and focus on improving and whatever happens happens. Good luck everyone.

There’s an article on exes that genuinely wish to be friends after dumping you and it paints a bad picture. Narccicist traits was a mention. Either way to me it personally smacks of someone that made the decision half cocked without the full consequence of their upcoming choice fully accepted. It’s a selfish wish. It’s not based on love rather a wish to be validated by using someone in pain. Anyone with half a brain knows the person they’d dumped is emotionally crippled and will agree to saw a leg off if the dumper requests so. It’s taking advantage of someone’s vulnerability for self gain. Like drugs. Just say no.

me and my ex gf broke up .. we knew each other for 6 years and dated for 7 months .. we dated 3 times 1 in middle school and 2 throughout this year ...how it all happened is the worst thing .. so me and her planned on Sunday to go ice skating and play billards on the following Sunday .. monday came around and she didn't text or call me , Tuesday same thing , Wednesday same thing so I went to pick her up from her job to surprise her ....got her from work and then we went to her house while talking to her at her house she was acting weird and not involved in the conversation like she used to be ... So I let her go inside .. Thursday came she didn't text or call , Friday nothing again and Saturday nothing finally Sunday came around I had to take my dad home to Delray Beach from Kendall FL .. so I did it took 2 hours roughly .. and when I was about 30 minutes from her house I called her to see what she was doing and she answered saying good morning baby I responded with gm my love and I asked the question what are you up to ? She said I'm her out with my friend Mom , friend , her baby sister . So I said ok um what's the plan are we going to meet ? She said she didn't know because she was with this girl .. and I said ok umm I guess have a great time out with your friend .. but then a few seconds passed and I grew angry inside I then called her back she didn't answer then I called again she answered saying yes I said look I really am trying to see you today can we make that happen and she said idk again so I just said ok and hung up .. so Monday came and I texted her gm mi amor she texted back saying we need to talk .. I said ok that's fine let's meet in person .. we met in person and I asked her what was going on I haven't talked to her in a full week basically when we used to be on the phone for hours talking ... She said she needs to get herself back in order and that she needed to get ready to leave .. she is going to the army I knew about this for a while I was even going to go with her but to work on the tanks , airplanes , Jeep's etc .. so to make the story short I asked her so everything I have taught you was a waste and she responded saying I don't see it like that because we had a great time together it's just not the same anymore ....my biggest question is why and how did she lose hope because that's something she told me and I've been trying to see what I could have done wrong for her to feel like that ... It's crazy when the love was real and taken for granted and the other person is let to die without any support .. she wants to be friends but I don't want that I worked to hard for all this to go back to being friends .. that's disrespectful to me in my eyes .. I only see her as a significant other not a friend but now I realize that even those that say they go ride for you won't unless they actually have to ... I too stopped communicating and, although at first it hurt like hell, I slowly started falling in love with myself and with life. This happened to me. After we first brokeup on November 19, 2018 personally, I said if we could be bestfriends and i can still bond with his whole family and he agreed. Everything was happy during holidays Christmas until New year, we’re hooking up many times in his room at his parent’s house, stayed there for days. He kept on saying “I Love You” to me during christmas vacation while staying at their house until we got on a fight yesterday and remembered we went back again to the reason why he broke up with me and left me because we’re having unnecessary fights and little things like paying bills, looking to his friends that are girls on social media but the worse part is that, he asked me if im pregnant but thank god it’s negative and said to me on videocall that if we could stay friends. He also said to me that didn’t want to waste his energy on little petty fights and admits that he is a Fairweather boyfriend wherein he want us only to be happy, but when I am in a emotional state of my mood, next to it he will get irritated and doesn’t want to listen my explanations anymore and begging to listen to me but he said he already have seen this scene and I will not stop repeating small fights and he’s already tired with these scenes all over again. Im trying to make him see that I am trying to change my bad habits, but he kept on saying he didn’t trust me that I could change because it’s been 9months and still not changing because I got trust issue from him because of cheating on me twice before but I still accept him but the issue is on me that’s why we get on little fights. Hi Chris, this is Arpita from India. I have been following your videos for several days. Some of your methods have been helpful to me. Yet, I am stuck in a place where I cannot accept that my ex who has been a great friend and an awesome partner does not want to be in a relationship. I am 3 years older than him and we belong from different cultural background. Since you know that India is a land of mixed culture, acceptance of such progress seem to be difficult for orthodox family out here in my country. At initial phase of the relationship he told me that he wants to be into relationship but always had commitment issues. In fact, he was the one who use to raise the topic of marriage often. He told about me to his parents and family. Due to the age and culture differences, his family members and relatives were against of it. He told me then that he cannot go against his parents. But when I use to avoid him, he was the one who always came to me. Last month his father passed away. Things changed from there. He told me that he feels for me but he can never marry me or be committed to me. I am going through huge mental breakdown since then because he has not only been my best partner but also best buddy. I want to know from you that is there any chance for his return? He do not text me from his own yet checks my post on IG. I really want to know where it is going? I see him everyday in my dreams and I wake up with morning anxiety. He asked me to move on from him and told me I deserve all the happiness. I know deep down that he do love me. But I do not know that what can be done to get him back and fight for us. I am in no contact with him.

Hi Chris, after 30 days no contact, my ex said he wants to be friends for now and see what happens between us he just doesn’t wanna guarantee we will or won’t get back together. I also made sure he knew i’m not sure if I want to get back together either. However he is talking to me like when we were together and even said I love you randomly. How should I act with him when he does this?

Its better to let go of him and focus on yourself more.. he just want to have an open option .. you deserve better ..

Hi Chris! I got your book and since month i made progress from no contact to talking almost everyday and live cathups. But What if my ex is in new relationship with her ex, seems happy and post happy love photos and comments with him(4months now) but talks to me everyday since one month? And she hides me from him - delete phone calls and messages? Oh and since one month they broke up 3 times but got back togiether after 2-3 days.. any advice? Thanks!

Thanks for getting the book! Sounds to me like there is something there where she has feelings for you on some level but isn't willing to risk letting that friendship out b/c she knows it'll cause friction in her current relationship. Have your listened to any of my videos about "the being there method?"
