The Mexican one sounds slightly better, with more detail. The Chinese one sounds more bassy, with less detail.

That is not possible because the same equipment types are used to make both.. They go through exactly the same frequency tests and must match exactly both in all sound and pitch standards.

There's noticeable differences in sound between the mics. The made in Mexico sounded clearer with better highs, mids and bass. The made in China sounded muffled and muddy.

Pravi test se vidi na jacini. Kada pjevas na mikrofon i pojacas se. Tada dolazi original beta do svoga vrhunca jer moze podnijeti decibele i potisak na mikrofon. Na tihom sve lijepo zvuci i cak kopija zna da ljepse zvuci. Ali na glasnoci kopije nema nigdje

The Mexico 58 seems to be less direction, from the sides. Otherwise, I think the "differences" people noticed were more likely from slight variations in distance of position. When you hold the mic a fraction of an inch from your mouth, even a few tenth's difference would make a significant difference.

I heard the exact same thing. More side rejection from the Chinese version, which is what a True Beta58 should sound like.

When you enter both serial numbers on their product registration page, one of them actually leads to a beta 58A but the other one to another model?

I've got my Beta 58a same my 2 Shure mic like PG or SM series do made in Mexico. But the Beta 58a's components by China order and copy to got the cheap price. I never got too much expensive but I got a cheap version bit excellent like the original. That's the best mic I ever use.

We all got ripped off by Shure the Beta 58 cost $10 to make and Shure sell it for $159. Regardless of what it's all part are made in China. I dare Shure to prove it that everything's made in Mexico! Ensemble in Mexico yes 😁

There are ways to tell. For one, the mesh on the top of the Mic should be a shiny silver color, the fake is a darker color. Also, the blue band on the top should be attached to the Mic. On the Fake version it is basically a rubber band. Lastly when you remove the top ball section of the Mic you should see the Shure logo and the small notch should be almost u shaped and smooth. I bought both a real Beta 58a from Shure and a fake one from Ali Express and they both almost sound the same. The real one has a better sounding high end range and the fake one was a bit hotter but sounded amazing.

One weird thing, slightly off topic: I have handled a 2 similar variations of the counterfeit Beta 58, without Shure branding, but both looking very similar to these Shures, and sounding much better than expected. But what recently surprised me is the Behringer BA 58A! I finally got to handle this mic, as it appeared to go off the market for some time (while there were rumors that Shure may have had something to do with that). But I had heard that the Behringer closely resembled not just the look, but the performance and behavior of the Beta very closely. So, I was very keen to check it out. What I did not expect is just how different the capsule looks! It could never be mistaken for the distinctive Beta 58 capsule. With the windscreen off, this mic looks nothing like the clones. ...This is one of the things which make me wonder if it's possible Behringer that made any changes to the BA 85A before it became available again. Some other unusual observations are that, out of 3 units ordered separately, all 3 were packaged in unsealed plastic sleeves, and all 3 arrived with the distinctive blue band twisted and unseated from the windscreen. There were other minor aspects which reminded me more of how B-stock / refurbished Behringer mics are packaged, rather than the usual / factory sealed. None of it was a problem, but I just can't help but wonder if this batch may have been opened and altered by necessity in some way before shipping out... although I really doubt that the capsules would be changed! Still, I wonder if anyone reading this bought a BA 85A before they became temporarily unavailable, and whether or not the capsule looks anything like those shown in this video. Just wondering! 🤷♂️

I received by mail a box with the label that displays "made in mexico" , but the mic doesnt have the printing in bottom "made in mexico". Can you please measure the length of your genuine beta58a please and respond? that would be great help as I believe a store sent me a counterfeit like you mention happend to you too. The warranty sheets and user manual were mising too!

Btw if you have have a beta that the capsule is that much different looking, something is wrong, shure would never ever sell something with that much discrepancy no matter wich factory it came from. your chinese one is missing the white letter on the capsule but it might have rubbed off because it does look original, i just can't be certain.

Interesting points. I find it quite strange that, specifically Shure, appears to have issues with this type of counterfeit products on the market and being sold through reputable vendors. I still believe that these are both made by Shure as I have researched this topic pretty extensively at the time and also checked that Shure actually has production facilities in Mexico and China (based on their website). Additionally, a few years ago, I actually came into contact with a counterfeit version of a Shure Beta 57a and that was pretty obvious.

Hey ! I like all your videos but I have a problem can you please solve it? I have a 2 mic input mixer but I want to record 3 person's podcast with three mics so I can I used 1 input for 2 mics and 1 for 1 mic? I have though a workaround in my mind that if I would be able to connect 2 dynamic mics into one of the inputs using XLR splitter. So my question is would my mixer be able to power 2 dynamic mics at the same time as dynamic mics do not require phantom power. Also, please tell me if it will be detrimental to my audio mixer or not? please make a video on it. Why am I doing this is because I'm from Pakistan and audio gear here is extremely expensive also no authorised dealer of major brands is officially here so even if I invest money I will have a risk of buying a counterfeit with the actual price plus, I am just starting out so don't wanna buy a new mixer.
@BatteryCoverMissing Жыл бұрын
Just put mic 2 in between them or have them pass it to each other when they want to talk. Or If your mixer has more inputs that are line only get or build a mic preamp so you can run more microphones into the line input.

The story about different plants is bs. The "Mexican" one in this video is actually a fake one. It's a very high quality replica made in China that costs several times cheaper than the original microphone. But as you can see it sounds as a steal for its real price (Aliexpress). On the other hand, it's an absolutely different story if someone sold you this replica at the price of the original microphone. The original microphones are made in China and it's written so on their package. The one in this video made in China is the original microphone. If you listen carefully you'll hear that it actually sounds much more natural than the replica.
@ChrisSpiegl7 ай бұрын
I do not think that that’s true. Shure states that manufacturing is split between China and Mexico even in their own website.
@al_green37 ай бұрын
@@ChrisSpiegl It's absolutely true. When I said: "The story about different plants is bs", I meant that you can't use this reason to explain such a difference in sound and appearence of these 2 microphones. I have two of those "Mexican" ones that I bought at the price of 25 dollars for a new one (Aliexpress). They look and sound exactly the same as your "Mexican" one in this video (to the slightest detail). Yeah, it blows my mind how Chinese are able to produce such good quality replicas at a steal of a price. But many sellers abuse this fact selling these replicas at the price of the original ones or just slightly cheaper. By the way, there is a comment under this video by AlexMegavolt that says that the serial number on the box of the "Mexican" version in your video is the same as on many other boxes of these replicas (obviously from the same batch, mine have a different serial number, but the same for two boxes of the same batch). They contacted Shure about it and were told that those are counterfeit products. And if both are genuine they should sound the same, because technology is the same. Yeah, they can differ with their outer appearance, but the sound should be identical. Here we have a pretty big difference in sound. So, one of them is definitely fake and that's the "Mexican" one. I don't know, maybe Mexico still produces them, but the "Mexican" one in your video is a 100% replica made to look like it's a Mexican version. Be aware and take care. P.S. Maybe it would be reasonable if you added the fact that the Mexican one is a replica into the description under you video, so that less people would have been deceived by fraud sellers.
