Welcome to NZ & CHCH. The large stone building you went to with the central courtyard was the original Canterbury University and later CHCH Girls & Boys high schools. I'm pretty sure Ernest Rutherford studied there before moving to the UK and splitting the atom. He was the father of the Atomic bomb and was mentioned in the recent Oscar winning film Oppenheimer.

Was in Christchurch 2001. Remember the cathedral the botanic garden and a festival that the cathedral had decorated the floor with natural products like shells and flowers plus. Really wonderful..

Would you say that christchurch is particularly moving?
@cjexplores6 ай бұрын
It certainly could be. If you wanted to learn about the earthquakes then I'm sure you would be impacted emotionally. There is a quake centre where you can learn about it but I'm not sure if it's any good, some people told us it was overpriced. Best to check the Google Map reviews 😊

There are two famous Kiwi cricketers who belongs to Christchurch that I know. Richard Hadlee and Brendon McCullum. And my favorite is Hadlee. Do you know about them?
@cjexplores8 ай бұрын
Yes, I've heard of them, both played for the Black Caps right?

@@cjexplores Richard Hadlee played for New Zealand from the 1970s to the late 1980s and was the first player to take 400 Test wickets. Brendon McCullum is another renowned cricketer from New Zealand, known for his aggressive batting style and exceptional leadership skills. McCullum is considered one of the most successful captains in New Zealand cricket history.

could anyone say the pros and cons of living in christchurch for an international students.
@DeniseNZ5 ай бұрын
Lots of international students at high schools and the universities. Seems to be a great city for them.

I would imagine it to be a great city to spend a few years studying. You will get to have amazing summers exploring the South Island and then in the winter you can go on ski trips to any of the mountains nearby!

the living costs are cheaper in Christchurch than Auckland or Wellington, that includes rental costs and public transport costs. They have quite a few international schools plus the University of Canterbury is well ranked internationally and has lots of other international students
