I had a Christensen Arms…now I have a Seekins Precision PH Gen 2 and it blows out the Christensen arms out of the water in every category. Absolutely tack driver and I’m not just talking 2-3 shot groups…. 5-7 shot groups! For instance…300 yards 5 shot group with a little bit of wind was 1.2” group with factory Hornady ammo. Not bad for a hunting rifle. I consistently group .24-.40 at 100.

Same here. Christensen got one opportunity when the gun got sent back due to accuracy and pressure issues. When it came back accuracy was still unacceptable so down the road and replaced with a PH2. Zero regrets.

Seekins PH2 in .300 WinMag owner here. Bought the rifle ready to Elk hunt, and back then it was $1750. Went out with a couple buddies that had a $6000 MOA Rifle, and a $4000+ Fierce, both in 300 PRC. Now I know that the Seekins is about one pound heavier, and WinMag and PRC are different animals, but I have been doing nothing but shooting .40-.60 groups with factory Federal 185 Bergers, while they still try to just keep it under an inch. Seekins all the way. 10/10 Would buy again, and they would never say it, but my buddies are super jealous. Very impressive rifles.

By the way, I commented before I watched the video based on the title. I had a BAD experience with CA when I bought their bottom metal kit from Brownells to build a 7PRC. I won't go into details but Brownells told me it's a CA issue and to contact them, so I did. Naturally CA passed it back like a hot potato and told me to have Brownells take care of it. CA customer service is the worst I've experienced in the entire shooting and hunting environment. And I've been doing this for 40 years. I had a LH CA Ridgeline on my watch list on gun broker. I called the seller and asked how they were selling a new one at the price which was $1849, where all the other sellers had the same model at least $2250. They told me they just needed to part with it. We also had a long discussion about CA customer service. That's when he told me they stopped carrying CA for nearly 2-3 years. He told me CA begged them to stock their rifles again and had improved their customer service. He also told me that there were a number of sellers who all ditched CA because they literally had NO customer service for a long time and multiple issues with their firearms.

@@landonboomsma2594 Actually nothing. The product is solid. The problem is the guy at CA told me I HAD TO BUY their "ultramag" bottom metal kit for a 7PRC build. So I did even though I already had a long action kit. Got the 2nd one. Took it out of the packaging and it was IDENTICAL to the first kit but they had different labels. I was concerned I'd send the wrong kit to my gun builder, or that I never received an actual "ultramag" kit. I thought maybe they packaged it wrong. Anyway, CA's solution was NO solution. They wouldn't even allow me to mail them one of the kits and trade it for an ultramag kit they had in stock. Thus, my opinion of anything CA moving forward will never be considered. Their customer service is simply non-existent. What gun builder you using?

I’ve got the Christiansen Ridgline FFT in 6.8 Western, and I absolutely love mine. It did require a break-in period for the barrel, I think it was 50 rounds required. I noticed the action had become much smoother the more I shot it. Accuracy also improved over time as well. My rifle only weighs 5.3 pounds, so I don’t even know it’s on my shoulder. I’m very pleased with my CA.

I've read a LOT of feedback and reviews that the CA Ridgeline, and their carbon barrels in general have a plethora of problems, namely delaminating at both ends but mostly at the muzzle. My gunbuilder stated to me last week he's rebarreled a ton of CA Ridgelines with Proof, Helix 6, and Fierce CF barrels. Any thoughts?
@briansmith26169 ай бұрын
Can you point me to the information on the Ridgeline barrel delamination problem? I searched for it and couldn't find much. Found a Proof barrel failure, but the rest was more speculative. I'd like to see what the issue is.

If I recall correctly, snipers hide, hunt talk, rockslide, both rifle builders I use, and an employee at sportsman’s warehouse who is part time there and a gunsmith. This is in addition to comments I’ve seen on KZbin. The gunsmith at sportsman’s warehouse showed me about 14 pics on his phone.

@@Accuracy1st Thanks for the response. I have three rifles with carbon fiber wrapped barrels, two Ridgelines and a Semi-custom Weatherby with a Carbon Six barrel. I personally haven't had any issues but am wondering about future problems. I was able to find some info regarding very early carbon barrels from Christensen, but nothing with the newer production barrels. Seems that the problems you mention may have been addressed. Tough to sort out what's truth and internet myth if you get my drift. I haven't found "the guy" with the issue, it's always secondhand accounts. The rifles shoot better than I can so I will not worry about it. Thanks again for the reply.

The “match” chamber of my Christensen is so tight that it won’t even chamber certain factory rounds. For instance hornady 6.5 PRC 143 grain ELDX. About the only factory ammo that it will reliably chamber is Barnes 127 grain LRX. It groups them around MOA or slightly less so at least it shoots them ok. I’m thinking about trading it.

As a CA Ridgeline owner, I will never buy another rifle from their company. It took nearly 200 rounds to start shooting decent groups. The action is sloppy and must be careful cleaning around action or will get cut. Very disappointed considering price. Purchased 5 years ago. I was looking for .280AI and at the time waited on Weatherby backcountry in that cartridge but could never locate. In good conscience I cannot recommend CA rifles.

@@johnkaraphillis754 Small world. I just started handloads today in 1 of my 2 new 280AIs. I may still get a McMillan or AG Composite stock but decided to stick with a factory Remington BDL wood stock because I've never done it. Defiance action, 24" #3 Bartlein barrel, Trigger tech diamond trigger, RHR 700 bottom metal. The stock is pillar and skim bedded. I fireformed Norma brand Remington 280 160 tipstrike ammo. Fed210M primers, 168 Berger VLDs. Just did pressure testing today with H4831SC and got to 60.5 grains no pressure signs. Just finished loading 3 more at 60.7, 60.9, and 61.2 grains. Bullet is seated 0.010 off lands and I'm off to a good start with 60 and 60.5 grains in the same hole. My other new 280AI is a trued Rem 700 action, HS Precision stock re-pillar and skim bedded, #3 Brux barrel @24", RHR bottom metal, Trigger Tech trigger. I also fireformed the Norma factory ammo, 160 tipstrike in it but that ammo is shooting so well, I may just leave it. Yes, I know, not getting the AI benefit but at the end of the day when you punch four groups, 5 shots each, 1/2" at 100 yards, AND kill 2 deer with it 2 months ago, what the heck. Handloads can wait. I actually built it for my son but he doesn't know yet.

@@johnkaraphillis754 It costs money but since you still have that Ridgeline, I'd recommend just taking it to your favorite rifle builder (or ship it), have them true that action and bolt face like they would any Rem 700 action, rebarrel it, and re-bed it. Fierce carbon barrels are really good and decent price on red hawk rifles site, unless you wanna spend the money on a Proof. You're essentially staring fresh with the Ridgeline but you can convert it to a much improved rifle. Nothing wrong with the stock, trigger, or action so long as it's blueprinted properly - unlike it comes from Christensen Arms

Never had an issue with Christensen Arms owned a dozen from 243 to 300 win mag and if you actually hunting walking 7-10 miles a day no one is going to lug that seekins around and it looks like it weighs 9 lbs as fitted. Always bad and good products with everything from guns to automobiles. But if your a Chevy man all chevys are good and if your a Ford man all fords are good. With guns 75% of the time it’s the shooter, most any gun will shoot good groups This day and time.
