Can you be a Christian and gay? This question has been around as long as the church, and Christians today need real answers. Dr. Steve Carter and Dr. David B. Garner discuss the question and ask a better on: What doesn't the Gospel cover?

Of course, just as divorced people can continually sleep with their new spouses (and commit adultery every time) and still be Christian, so too can gay people be Christian.

I can see why your “@ going going gone” because you’re lost, you need Christ in your life. I hope one day you call him from your Heart and THEN you will find him.

@@Blessed2024. And just saying I'm "lost" doesn't refute what I'm saying. How are people who commit adultery multiple times a day allowed to be Christian, but gay people can't be?

@@myfakinusername They do, the churches they go to, the families that accept them, the communities that support them, the spouses that marry them, etc. This is devolving into a No True Scotsman fallacy.

Since when is identifying with a sin a good idea to be the adjective infront of Christian? You don’t say or ask can you be an adulterous Christian? Can you be a murderer Christian.

As a Christian who has never faced homosexual attraction, I am genuinely sorry. I can't imagine how hard it is to face that kind of temptation in today's day and age, and then watch this completely vacuous interaction. These guys really are talking as if what they're saying is insightful, when really it's just verbose. Unfortunately, I've seen this in many OPC pastors who have come out of WTS. They're often excellent at memorizing and articulating what they've been taught, but clear reasoning, dialogue, and empathy are almost forbidden to them. This interview might be a bit more insightful and helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/farFgHaXqMx9pMk

@@jimboleroyjenkens2743 Please stop using condescending language like "temptation" or "attraction" when referring to being gay. It's ignorant and outdated. Being gay just is how some people are. It's nothing that can be "tempted" in people.

@@goinggoinggone535 That's false. Homosexual attraction is a temporary desire, not a part of one's identity. To identify as gay is like identifying with your desire to eat chocolate. My identity is not wrapped up in what I like to eat, anymore than who I'd like to have sex with. As Christians we are to identify as God's image, because He has the highest dignity. Practicing homosexuals are sinning, and faithful Christians will resist the temptations to sin.

@@jimboleroyjenkens2743No, what YOU'RE saying is false. Homosexuality is not a temporary desire. That's as stupid as saying heterosexuality is a temporary desire. It's not a "desire". It's an orientation. Comparing sexual orientation to liking food doesn't demonstrate that you're correct. It just demonstrates how profoundly ignorant you are about human psychosexuality. "As Christians..." That has nothing to do with how something works. Identifying with a religion doesn't change how sexual orientation works, anymore so than identifying with a religion somehow changes the Earth from round to flat. Things work the way they work, independently of how we FEEL about them or personally identify. "Practicing homosexuals"? LMAO!!!!!! Thank you, I needed that. It's like there are gays who just got their learner's permit and have to work at it before getting their full gay license lol Homosexuality is a sin in your interpretation of your religious beliefs? Okay, what does that have to do with the Christians who interpret their religion differently from the way you interpret yours? (Let me guess, the people who interpret it differently from you are just ALL wrong, right? How convenient that you've interpreted it correctly for everybody else).

To write these men off because they are not like yourself is a common error people make with respect to sin. 1 Tim 3:1-11, 2 Tim 2:24-26, Titus 1:5-9 require men who are pastors and teachers to be godly. In other words, they cannot be engaged in and, according to God himself, do not need to have experience in the same sin as those they talking to. This could be the sin of drunkenness, gambling, anger, etc, any sin.

If you identify with sin, are you saved? If you identify with what God hates, are you saved? How can you repent from a sin you identify with? Sin doesn't identify you. God does. It's really that black and white.
