Thank you, Pastor Grant. When we became believers, Christmas for our kids had Jesus at the centre - not Santa, but we did read about St. Nicholas. We did advent readings every day and this may sound corny, but we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus. My husband read the Christmas story (or sometimes listened to Max MacLean read it on CD) on Christmas Day. Our kids have grown up now and the youngest is almost 18, so some things have changed. Now we have our grand daughter and we want to teach her about Jesus and Christmas is part of that. It's a joy to give to others and you can do that without spending extravagant amounts of money, like hand made things for example. We also like to "buy" a gift from Compassion's Gift catalogue for a family in need (overseas) and we do that in someone's name (so for the piano teacher, for example or grandma and grandpa who don't need a lot of things). We know December 25th is not really Jesus' birthday but we are celebrating God's gift to us which leads to the greatest gift at Easter. Each can celebrate Christmas or not, as they choose but I agree we must be careful to respect other people's views on this, not be judgmental and remember that Christmas can be a hard time of year for some.

Growing up, my family use to sing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus as well lol However, please pray about it though… some of the correlations that people make about Christmas are wrong. Like the Christmas tree with the Jeremiah scripture BUT my gripe and why I stopped celebrating it is because it is a lie. Jesus Christ was not born on December 25th or even in December. No one knows the exact date BUT historically shepherds would not have been out in the fields at night in December also the census was not conducted in December. I decided not to celebrate because it is a flat out lie, plain and simple.

Pastor Grant, you are kind and generous with people as you display the strength of truth revealed in God’s word. Very nice conversation, and a helpful way to look at the issue. I sure enjoy listening to you. 😊

Confession time here. I have a rather large collection of Santa Claus Christmas ornaments 😂 Don't judge me too harshly. LOL

Right! There is no commandment against Christmas. Praise Christ.

The Jeremiah passage seems more to indicate working a tree into a wooden idol versus anything that resembles a Christmas tree.

I am very much in Two Minds on it. The 1647 Westminster Larger Catechism *utterly Forbids* it, but my Church Heritage is Low Anglican, where it was one of the most Important Periods on the whole Church Calendar, so I am very much in two minds...

I celebrate the reason for the Christmas. We do not know the date of His birth, but the important thing is that we celebrate his birth.
@SheIsFearfullyWonderfullyMade15 күн бұрын
Important to who though?? There are zero scriptures telling us to celebrate or remember Jesus Christ birthday. As Christians, we have made Christmas important but there are zero scriptures to back it up.… it’s very carnal to celebrate God in a way that satisfies us and makes us feel “good”

Too late. You’re in trouble now for saying doing Santa is wrong 😂. I actually agree with you and I’m glad you mentioned it but it’s still an adiophora.

Hey there, I’m new to your channel. I see a Stratocaster, a Gibson , a Marshall (hoping it’s a JCM 800). That does not look like a praise and worship rig. I’m curious to know what your musical tastes are and what your recommendations are. let me know I’m starved for good Christian music. I’m a 70s and 80s hard rock and metal guy, I’m really into the new Van Zant album. “always look up”. Thanks

We have traditional hymns at our church, I play guitar just as a hobby, I'm not really into CCM and the music I play I don't listen to rock much anymore because of the lyrics but its a challenge to learn the style and practice solos, so like I said I picked it up as a hobby. Not a JCM 800 unfortunately lol.

Yes the Jeremiah passage used incorrectly threw me for a loop for almost 2 years, theres a huge amount of misinformation out there. Anything can become an idol if youre not diligent .Bub sad nice guitar and is that Pacific Blue?

i don't believe Christians would actually celebrate Saturnalia - which Emperor Constantine renamed Christmas. But a "tree" should not be involved in any Christian celebration because of its child sacrifice origins. Queen Victoria brought the tree into popularity in the mid 1800s - she was an occultist, as was Queen Elizabeth, who was a high Druid. God forbade Israel from any form of worship involving real trees. The word "grove" is the word for Ashteroth / Asherah / Ishtar - the goddess consort of Baal. Christians should be disgusted at the symbol for the rite of child sacrifice. It shows the level of deception among the saints of the Living God.

I disagree, God made the trees, its like the rainbow, its the sign of God's covenant just because evil people use it doesn't ruin it for everyone, besides Christians are not worshipping the tree and the Saturnalia narrative is debatable.

I would lovingly suggest to anyone looking in to this issue to ask the Holy Spirit to show you what He wants. The Almighty gave us HIS 7 holy days, that He commanded us to remember. We have forgotten HiS feasts, and traded them for holidays that have pagan origins, according to history books. Saturnalia would be one example. Please pray with an open heart.
