We fellow Christians are like the Moon. We live in the darkness of the world, and, sometimes, we, too, succumb to that darkness, but we are to be the light in that darkness. That, too, is not our own, but a reflection of the Sun, promising that all will be better, once the darkness meets its inevitable end & the Sun returns to herald the new day.

@@SpiritLifeI would recommend reading chapter 2 of the book of James. The Atonement of Jesus Christ saves us from sin through his grace, resurrects us and helps us through life’s hardships but, one can’t show there faith in Jesus Christ without works. Like keeping the 10 commandments and the two great commandments love God and love your neighbor as yourself. Also Jesus went to teach the spirits in prison on the other side in the spirit realm. There are a lot of souls that’ll never have heard or been taught about Jesus Christ in this life, they’ll have an opportunity to be taught of him and his gospel, then accept it or reject it.

As Christians it is possible to Love everyone including people of other religions. But sinners (which is everyone except Jesus Christ) will not make Heaven without a savour. The only One that can save us is Jesus Christ. This fact doesn't stop Christians from working with others that have common goals on earth as long as those goals do not conflict with God's Holy Scripture.

Andrew, you are talking about "earning salvation," which is impossible. In order to earn salvation you would have to be sinless. The Bible says the only path to salvation is through Christ. You can never be good enough to earn it. You can't buy it, you can't bargain for it. That's why we are told to share the Gospel with others, so that they might too be saved. We are not told to do good works to be saved, the good works come FROM being saved, which is by believing that Christ died for us. His blood wiped out our sins, which is something we can't do for ourselves.

Our country was founded on biblical principles and moral laws. I’m reading ‘100 Bible Verses That Made America’ by Robert J Morgan. From the Puritans, the Pilgrims, and all those who helped found this country, we are founded on Godly biblical principles, values and morals. Those early colonists were Christians coming to a new world to get away from tyranny. We are turning away from what they fought to give us and heading right back into tyranny. Those early pilgrims gave us the framework for the government given to us in our Constitution. They got it from the Bible. I recommend the book. I’ve learned more about how we were started from this book than any history book I’ve read.

Andrew’s take on Christianity is much better than most I see in the comments. So many people act like works don’t matter, but that’s not what the scriptures say. Christ didn’t waste time teaching the beatitudes of the sermon on the mount of he didn’t mean for us to live them (works). He told us to repent (works). He told us how to be a good neighbor (works). He told us to lose our lives for his sake in order to find them. (Works) He said “if ye love me, keep my commandments” (works). Ironically, he also said people would draw near to him with their lips, but that their hearts would be far from him. Are we just going to ignore Matt. 7:21? “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (works) Maybe people should stop worshipping Paul and start reevaluating what Jesus actually said.

I love Klavan’s podcast, but his advice to Christians always falls a little flat for me. This is a guy who had so much desire for success that he didn’t respond to God’s claims on his soul until he was 50 years old. And he still admits that he’s a “worldling,” in his words. He doesn’t think open air preaching works, which is untrue- a capable, sane, open air preacher reaches hundreds of people in a few meetings, whereas a personal evangelist’s work is glacially slow- commendable, but slow. And his soteriology really, really sucks. It’s incredibly fuzzy. He thinks you can get saved by behaving in a Christian manner, basically. Even now, one gets the impression that Christ is riding along in the back seat, displaced by his ambition and desire for fame. He thinks sacrificing for Christ is him not making $1 million more than he’s already made, when he’s already a multi-millionaire. Give me a break, dude.

The Gospel of John describes Jesus as "The Word". In Greek, that is "Logos". "The Word was with God and The Word was God." God is Logos. God is Reason and Logic. (Along with the understanding that God is Love, as mentioned in 1 John.) There is no conflict between science and religion, especially not between science and Christianity. Oxford and Cambridge were originally monasteries. Harvard was originally a seminary. Science and the search for truth isn't what alienates us from God. It's the luxurious life enabled by technology that alienates us, that tempts us to think that we're in control of everything, and causes us to panic the moment we get the smallest hint that we might not be.

All paths that are genuinely seeking for truth lead to Jesus Christ. Amen. When speaking of the Truth, few consider the following: So called martyrdom is one of those confusing religiosity bag s of confusion. Both protestants and Catholics buy into making something a truth just because it happens. Just because something happens does not mean it is a true doctrine. The Greek word martyr means witness. It does not mean Killed for ones convictions. The English word "martyr" corrupted the original Greek text and is defined as killed for ones convictions. Looking at the KJV translation(Ione that I otherwise like and read) It says in Revelation 2 :13 My faithful" martyr" who was slain. Using the English word "martyr" instead of the English word witness. My English teacher would have said that is a redundant sentence. I would say twisty tricky. Why is it important to get translation texts correct? Do written texts have power in and of themselves. Why have I heard Christians call aborted babies poor little" martyrs" in a religious sanctimonious way? You can't have it both ways. Turning murder into "martyr" is not an effective way to conquer the abortion industry. Maybe the false belief that "martyrdom" is something to be desired is why there are too many wimpy Christians.(Just let the enemy do whatever he wants, we fold) How about teaching Christians to hear God's voice ,by the Holy Spirit ,for preservation instead. Shalom.

Peter in Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Wait wasn’t he like da first pope of something 😅 In either case we now know , due to papal infallibility, that both Jesus and Peter as well as Paul and many of the other New Testament authors that …(wait for it) THEY ARE ALL WRONG😮 Thanks Pope Francis, no need for confirmation, confession, baptism, attending mass, communion, or any of the sacraments because, according to you, “All paths are equally valid.”😅 When is the Catholic Church going to join their Christian brothers around the church and actually study the Bible? When are the priests going to hold bishops, cardinals, and yes popes who espouse heretical doctrine😮😮😮

We puny inconsistent mortals cannot "earn" our way into God's Sinless , eternal Paradise (aka HEAVEN) by any means except Trusting in what Christ did for those who believe and receive His Salvation. We should not "tolerate" any other so called truth .

People actually will be saved for doing good deeds. That’s why there are multiple kingdoms in heaven, the highest will be for the most faithful, those that do good but don’t accept Christ will go to a lower but still very good kingdom, even bad people will go to an even lesser kingdom of heaven.

@@Hard_Boiled_Entertainment that's exactly what he's saying. This isn't the first time he brought it up. Then and now, he says those who do good works will be granted salvation without ever knowing Jesus. The verses he's referencing do not say that, but rather that many Christians will be told "you took care of me" and not understand in that moment that when they took care of other believers, they were also taking care of Christ. The verse is MATT 25:37-40, and he says "37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these MY BROTHERS (emphasis mine), 6 you did it to me.’"

A lot of people seem to be mad claiming that Andrew is saying good deeds can save you to a degree. Yes you must have faith in Christ, but faith is action. So if you have faith but don’t do anything about it then you might as well not have any faith at all cause it won’t do you any good. So people who don’t know Jesus and still do good deeds will be rewarded to a degree in heaven and if they accept him after they die they will receive all the blessings that God has to offer.

We are saved by grace, THROUGH faith, FOR good deeds, which God has prepared for us in advance. The order here is critical. We don’t earn salvation by good deeds; good deeds are an expression of gratitude.

This teaching, along with the sayings right next to it, was meant to address how we respond to personal insults and slights. It is not an advocacy of pacificsm, which is what I think you mean. When Christ said to love your enemy, the word for enemy he used was "echthroi", which means "personal enemy". I heard this (I think) on Joel Webbpm's podcast yesterday from Aaron MacIntyre. The point was to forgive insults. It wasn't to let people murder you, or worse.

Turn the other cheek is very similar as the phrase “do not return insult for insult” it basically means don’t get angry when someone calls you a name or insults you. It’s more about how we as Christian’s conduct ourselves, not about how we allow ourselves to be treated. If someone says that I’m “f--ing stupid” and I tell them that they’re “one to talk because your way more f--ing stupid than I’ll ever be” how is that being an emulator of Christ? It’s not. And honestly, when it says “don’t not return insult for insult, but give a blessing instead” that really pisses of people that are mad at you, because it shows that you’re more mature and in control of your emotions, it makes them guilty and ashamed a lot of the time. But don’t think that the Bible doesn’t say to defend yourself.

Coo coo talk. Good man, but religion is not necessary to find God. I feel God every time I get into a state of gratitude and I’m saying thank you for my children, my wife, the air in my lungs, etc. I’ve never once in my life prayed to Jesus Christ. I don’t think God had a son, I think that is ridiculous. Yet I feel that light shining inside when I thank God for my life. Gratitude and forgiveness for others is all that is required. I could be wrong
