Probably she knows how she is. Not everyone develops the same symptoms and is different how they cope with it even if the symptoms are similar. I know as myself severely disabled. My husband too. He was the youngest in the family with Parkinson’s, but his condition was worse very soon. Tough he got a life changing device, he is not coping well. And the longer you have to live with pain and limitations the less you feel blessed…

Wow. She has had it so tough. First breast cancer at 36 and now MS. Life isn’t fair. I’m so sorry that she’s had to face so many challenges in life, yet so happy to see her spirits are high and that she is surrounded by an incredible group of friends. She was always beautiful, but I never knew that she had such a beautiful soul as well.

@@chriswilson1968 you clearly know nothing. Acting is a tough job and can take a lot out of people. Plus she dealt with more stuff when she was younger. She just never made it public. @@EPCKing She dealt with stuff but never told the public? So how would you even know then? You're just making it up. You're not an actor either so you also have no idea if it's hard. Working 80 hour weeks doing two jobs you hate just to feed your kids is hard. Not acting lol especially not her kind of acting. You're talking out of your ass. She made millions off her looks pure and simple, doesn't get easier than that. She lived almost 4 decades that women would kill for. Stop acting like she's had it so tough lol she doesn't care about you at all, if she was given the option to transfer her MS disease to you she would do it in a heartbeat.

Have you seen the protocols developed by Dr. Joel Wallach regarding the treatment and CURE for MS? His research identified the root cause of MS as osteoporosis of the skull, which in turn can be caused by certain nutritional deficiencies, especially an excess of gluten, ie., grains - in the diet. I wholly endorse that theory. Best of luck.

I was 11 when Married with Children came out. It appealed to so many age groups. It was just genuinely funny. It was a perfect sit com with a perfect cast of middle america. It probably appealed to me as an australian because it was america not taking its self to seriously and poking fun at its self. Such joy that Christina was recognised with a star she truly deserves the recognition she was great in married and great in anchorman. Sad to hear of her struggles with this cruel world looks like she is surrounded by people who love her and thats all you need. Love from australia

That was so emotional to watch, I feel like with both Selma and Christina being open about their journeys with being diagnosed with MS, It gives so much more acknowledgment of people with disabilities, and that physical handicaps doesn’t discriminate against anyone. As a woman with a disability myself that I was born with, it makes me feel not as alone in the world and a little more celebrated as well. It brings light to a minority group that often gets looked down on and so while I feel for Selma and Christina having to go through this journey, I feel blessed that these two women are strong enough to be public with it. It would have been all too easy for them to both quit acting, and stay out of the limelight and hide away so the world didn’t know but they both choose to be open and honest with their diagnosis.

Your points are valid @Lozza685, but what about us black women with multiple sclerosis? Motherless since 2 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3qbqGh3hq-WhJo - #VIOLA), I worked since age 16, but was forced to quit in 2015 due to MS? I'm 44 today, a former legal secretary who once worked years w/the former President's counsel, was diagnosed on 2/14/11, and stopped working after having done so for nearly 2 decades. I've battled the SSA for (my) disability benefits for nearly 8 years now, to no avail. I'm making it up, apparently, but GOD knows the truth, and they'll pay (whenever that day may come). My heart goes out to Christina & Selma + everyone suffering with, or through, whatever. It is a fact ---> #msSUX ... Ultimately, GOD'S Will WILL Be Done

@@Lozza685 You posted a comment on a public forum, and I replied in turn. Unfortunately, your privilege isn't allowed to decide my response. I never intended to attack or downplay your comment, because like Kelly Bundy and so many others, I also suffer from MS. It just seems like the media+ the powers that be only recognize famous white girls with multiple sclerosis (as I had to actually Google the names of famous black gals) since I can't think of a single one w/melanin who's represented on TV/www. Save your sorry's for someone who needs 'em. I don't. And I'm uninterested in continuing this back-n-forth. I'll leave you with this (and say so with love because despite everything, I trust that there is but ONE GOD, our Heavenly Creator) - as long as people continue to think the "issue" of race is being made out of "nothing," it will no doubt remain. #GODBLESSYouMeWE

It's crazy how life is, how it unfolds, what it throws at us and how we chose to navigate and overcome. I remember Christina Applegate in high school amongst a number of other notable teen stars and tv/movie personalities of the late 80's and early 90's (Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Ernie Reyes Junior, Noah Hathaway and Milla Jovovich just to name a few). When I say personalities, I mean personalities which I could never fault them given their level of fame, notoriety and hype at the time. I can honestly say that during that time in high school for the short time I knew and interacted with Christina, my impression circa '87-'88 was that she was a real person with no airs about her. She was after all on one the highly watched and popular tv shows at the time, yet in school she carried herself just like me and any one of the students there who were not in the biz. In our adult years over the past few decades, I've watched her from afar as her star rose. In every interview I've seen her do over the past decades, I could still detect that genuine person with no airs.

Christina and Selma, their courage is out of this world incredible! God bless them. I'm definitely going to miss Christina in the movies because she's one of my favorite actresses. The star is definitely well deserved and a long time coming. She seems like she is a very sweet nice down to earth person. Definitely in no way shape or form does she seem like what we usually see as the Hollywood type. She seems to be very kind, funny, and a gentle soul and she is definitely in my prayers. I hope you're able to find the cause of your health problems. There are a few like MS that are not well understood but having a confirmed diagnosis really does help. I was receiving diagnosed with a genetic disorder I didn't know was the cause of weird problems I was having and my mom and aunt too. I was 28 when I was diagnosed with it. She got to be healthy waaaay longer than most. She's actually on the older end of the spectrum of people who get it, the biggest demographic being young women of child-bearing age. She's close to my age and I've had it for over twenty years. Do the math. She got unlucky with the diagnosis, but SUPER LUCKY that it happened at her age.

I agree with Better Tomorrow. I was diagnosed at 13, I was always relapsing and at the time in the UK, noMS medication just corticosteroids IV or tablets).MS as a child is hard. I've had SPMS for 10 years.10% of people withMS are diagnosed as children or report symptoms before and up to the age of 18.She's lucky that she has 'lived life'; I've had MS for 25 years.

She is 50. Its normal, but not right, that people at her age get diagnosed at her age. Symptoms present and doctors tend to blow them off as a person being run down or other things. Unfortunately its takes exasperations for it to build up to a point where it is more noticeable for doctors to recognize the symptoms a person is having may be something else. It took almost 20 years for my mother to be diagnosed. She was diagnosed at Christina’s age, and is 70 now. Some of what makes it so difficult for MS to be diagnosed is the symptoms can be different for everyone. It took my mom having trouble walking and dragging her leg and eyes wiggling to be diagnosed after a car accident caused by what we know was an exasperation of her MS.

My heart goes out to this brave young woman. We too have watched her grow into the person she is today. Strong, Courageous and her willingness to accept the challenges ahead of her with the help of her loyal friends and family is commendable. Christina, you are not alone in this. I, for one, am by your side as well, even if only as a fan from Florida and will forever pray for your health and well-being. You are an inspiration to so many, me included. Stay strong, informed and please never lose your ability to laugh and enjoy life. My personal motto (that I coined when I was a senior in high school) is “Life is only fun if one has the ability to laugh at life itself” - I truly live by this motto . I am a cancer survivor and at my lowest times I would think of that and try my damndest to find something to poke fun at/of and laugh. It helped me cope with life’s challenges in that it distracted me from a lot of the negativity surrounding the circumstances I was dealing with at the time. It wasn’t always easy to find, but I did manage to laugh one hell of a lot. Lean on others when you need to. That’s part of what friends are for. Lean on us, your fans. We will listen to you, we will support and pray for you. You will always have us, we aren’t going anywhere… and, we are everywhere. Congratulations on receiving your star on the Walk of Fame… you deserve it!!! Love ❤ from Florida
