That was so emotional to watch, I feel like with both Selma and Christina being open about their journeys with being diagnosed with MS, It gives so much more acknowledgment of people with disabilities, and that physical handicaps doesn’t discriminate against anyone. As a woman with a disability myself that I was born with, it makes me feel not as alone in the world and a little more celebrated as well. It brings light to a minority group that often gets looked down on and so while I feel for Selma and Christina having to go through this journey, I feel blessed that these two women are strong enough to be public with it. It would have been all too easy for them to both quit acting, and stay out of the limelight and hide away so the world didn’t know but they both choose to be open and honest with their diagnosis.

Your points are valid @Lozza685, but what about us black women with multiple sclerosis? Motherless since 2 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3qbqGh3hq-WhJo - #VIOLA), I worked since age 16, but was forced to quit in 2015 due to MS? I'm 44 today, a former legal secretary who once worked years w/the former President's counsel, was diagnosed on 2/14/11, and stopped working after having done so for nearly 2 decades. I've battled the SSA for (my) disability benefits for nearly 8 years now, to no avail. I'm making it up, apparently, but GOD knows the truth, and they'll pay (whenever that day may come). It's crazy how life is, how it unfolds, what it throws at us and how we chose to navigate and overcome. I remember Christina Applegate in high school amongst a number of other notable teen stars and tv/movie personalities of the late 80's and early 90's (Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Ernie Reyes Junior, Noah Hathaway and Milla Jovovich just to name a few). When I say personalities, I mean personalities which I could never fault them given their level of fame, notoriety and hype at the time. I can honestly say that during that time in high school for the short time I knew and interacted with Christina, my impression circa '87-'88 was that she was a real person with no airs about her. She was after all on one the highly watched and popular tv shows at the time, yet in school she carried herself just like me and any one of the students there who were not in the biz. In our adult years over the past few decades, I've watched her from afar as her star rose. In every interview I've seen her do over the past decades, I could still detect that genuine person with no airs.

Christina, we need more of you in Hollywood,showing the imperfections of an industry that has not shown that a lot until recently. You still have stories to tell, you still have so many to inspire. Please know you have followers you enjoy your work no matter if your a, 'Hot Bad Mom', or showing us your story of MS. I cannot wait to see what you do next. You and Selma Rock and I am inspired. Hugs, beautiful!!!

I don't know Christina but she seems like an incredible person. Her acting career has been varied and entertaining. My heart breaks for her that she has MS. No-one deserves to have a debilitating illness. I'm crying for her, for myself, and everyone affected by chronic illness. It is not a life I would wish on my worst enemy.

I've been watching Christina since "Married With Children", and I loved her in " Anchorman" and "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead". She is only a year or so older than me, so I couldn't imagine someone her age going through something like this. It would be awesome to see her taking on more acting projects if she can, but if she can't physically do it anymore, we will have to accept her decision. I'm glad she has so many friends and family helping and supporting her in the meantime. Godspeed, Christina!

I was 28 when I was diagnosed with it. She got to be healthy waaaay longer than most. She's actually on the older end of the spectrum of people who get it, the biggest demographic being young women of child-bearing age. She's close to my age and I've had it for over twenty years. Do the math. She got unlucky with the diagnosis, but SUPER LUCKY that it happened at her age.
@veronicaaccouche14782 жыл бұрын
I agree with Better Tomorrow. I was diagnosed at 13, I was always relapsing and at the time in the UK, noMS medication just corticosteroids IV or tablets).MS as a child is hard. I've had SPMS for 10 years.10% of people withMS are diagnosed as children or report symptoms before and up to the age of 18.She's lucky that she has 'lived life'; I've had MS for 25 years.
@marjuracek2 жыл бұрын
She is 50. Its normal, but not right, that people at her age get diagnosed at her age. Symptoms present and doctors tend to blow them off as a person being run down or other things. Unfortunately its takes exasperations for it to build up to a point where it is more noticeable for doctors to recognize the symptoms a person is having may be something else. It took almost 20 years for my mother to be diagnosed. She was diagnosed at Christina’s age, and is 70 now. Some of what makes it so difficult for MS to be diagnosed is the symptoms can be different for everyone. It took my mom having trouble walking and dragging her leg and eyes wiggling to be diagnosed after a car accident caused by what we know was an exasperation of her MS.

Christina deserves it, and not just because she has MS, but because she's got a whole team of people in her corner who are hoping that the MS won't take her away. What's interesting is that Christina's character on Married With Children was a ditsy blonde, stereotyped to the funny extreme. But in real life, she's very intelligent, humble, and gracious. It sucks that the most kind and relatable people in Hollywood always seem to get the short end of it.

My heart goes out to this brave young woman. We too have watched her grow into the person she is today. Strong, Courageous and her willingness to accept the challenges ahead of her with the help of her loyal friends and family is commendable. Christina, you are not alone in this. I, for one, am by your side as well, even if only as a fan from Florida and will forever pray for your health and well-being. You are an inspiration to so many, me included. Stay strong, informed and please never lose your ability to laugh and enjoy life. My personal motto (that I coined when I was a senior in high school) is “Life is only fun if one has the ability to laugh at life itself” - I truly live by this motto . I am a cancer survivor and at my lowest times I would think of that and try my damndest to find something to poke fun at/of and laugh. It helped me cope with life’s challenges in that it distracted me from a lot of the negativity surrounding the circumstances I was dealing with at the time. It wasn’t always easy to find, but I did manage to laugh one hell of a lot. Lean on others when you need to. That’s part of what friends are for. Lean on us, your fans. We will listen to you, we will support and pray for you. You will always have us, we aren’t going anywhere… and, we are everywhere. Congratulations on receiving your star on the Walk of Fame… you deserve it!!! Love ❤ from Florida
