Christine thank you so much for this. Would you have some pointers for using metal zips?
@ChristinesHomeAffairs Жыл бұрын
My first thoughts? "RUN"!! I rarely use them Sue. For my own work, I'd be too concerned that I'd sew over the teeth. You know, my memory being what it is, I'd forget they were there. The only time I actually use them is when changing zips for customers in their jeans. I usually sew a little further from the teeth than I usually do, and I always use the double sided tape to hold it in place😁

Hi Christine, can you install one of the ordinary zip sliders on each end of continuous zipper tape (both pointing to the middle) to get a double zip that opens from the centre like for luggage - or would that be special sliders? I’d like to make a backpack 🎒 or cooler bag. Good vid. Cheers
@ChristinesHomeAffairs Жыл бұрын
Yes, you definitely can. Bring the first slider all the way through, then on again and leave in the middle. Then go to other end and place second slider on to meet the other. The curved edges will meet. My giant utility dopp style bag shows you this technique. I can do a separate video if you like🙂

Ronel, there are many tapes that leave residue on your needles, but the one I use is specific for sewing. It doesn't gum them up at all and is water soluble😊

I liked the idea of the 3 different types of bags, however it became confusing. I understand that you were trying to do continuous types of sewing. You are a professional, I am not. I would have preferred completion of one bag at a time. Because this is a how-to video, it would make more sense. Love the idea of using tape instead of clips or pins. What size double-sided tape did you use? I also liked how you did the zipper end tabs using Scotch tape. Thank you!
@ChristinesHomeAffairs Жыл бұрын
Thanks Barb. The ds tape I used was 8mm. I did a couple of variations in this video because it was so much like many I've done before. It also helps to explain that there are many options you can use with the same piece of fabric.😁

Hi Michelle. I use the "Sew Easy" double sided quilters tape. As long as it's for sewing, it will be good. To separate the tape at the ends, I run my finger nail at the edges a few times. That helps remove it😊

I VERY MUCH dislike the curved ends on zipper pouches. It's like looking at a person with bad posture. (A hunched back.) I can't stop seeing it. UGH ! There is a person on YT that has easy ways to avoid that. I think it's okSew. but it isn't difficult to eliminate those hunched corners. For me, it's worth the time to learn a better way.
