Christmas at Biltmore 2020: “Virtual Tree Raising”

We are delighted to share this special behind-the-scenes look at the 2020 annual raising of Biltmore's 35-foot Banquet Hall Christmas tree--a beloved tradition that goes back 125 years to the time when George Vanderbilt first opened his grand home to friends and family on Christmas Eve of 1895 in Asheville, NC.
While we know that this year has brought many uncertainties, we hope these holiday stories spark joy and anticipation for beloved traditions of this coming season.

We visited the Biltmore 20 years ago. We got there too early to see it decorated for the season but, when we finished our trip, we swung back to it so I could see the Biltmore in all its holiday splendor! It was a magical time for me!!

Grateful for the video but was hoping for a bit more. Actually wanted to see some live action, see how you decorate things and whatnot. I think this was a missed opportunity to really let folks see how things are done.

Hi Mark, Thank you for your feedback! We typically live-stream only the arrival and raising of the tree, but do not stream the decorating, which takes many hours to complete. The decorating clips you see in this video were filmed this year, but it's great to know that you are interested in seeing more.
