I think Gloria must have told Edith that she and Mike were at least having problems on the phone judging by how devastated Edith was. I think Edith was gonna say "You mean he ain't living there??" but cut off the last part .

I don't think Edith would have been that upset just because they couldn't make it for Xmas ..She was probably hoping it would blow over because Gloria didn't tell her the EXTENT of it

Did you not see the second episode when they went out to California and Gloria revealed to Edith in the bathroom that her and Mike were separated? You could tell by Edith's reaction it was the first time she ever heard of it

@@romans52345-cy3tqYeah I saw it but like I said, I don't think Gloria told Edith the FULL EXTENT of it on the phone, but I think she probably said something like "Mike and I are having some issues and he's temporarily living elsewhere" That's when Edith responded with "You mean he ain't....well" I think Edith was just HOPING it wasnt that serious and that things would just work out once they got there. I don't think Edith knew they were separated but just thought they were having problems. I don't think Edith would have gotten THAT UPSET to the point of tears just because they couldn't make it on account of Mike's back going out

One of the BEST shows ever. It bonded our own family. We all watched together religiously. We could identify. Sadly, it could probably never be made today and might even be considered "racist." It's just not "woke" enough and would be stifled. We have not progressed, just the opposite. Thank God for reruns. Although, the description of it on Amazon leaves a lot to be desired. The generations today could learn a few things from it. As for Rob Reiner, once a meathead, always a meathead. smh
