I'm sitting here crying under my breath... trying to keep it together... trying to keep from becoming a sobbing, blithering idiot. We had a television like that, and a cardboard fireplace like that, and decorations, lights, and icicles... and grandparents, and a young mother and father. My heavens, these could almost be home movies made in our house.

Loved the gentle Christmas Music. Thanks for this lovely presentation. Our World today is full of selfishness and foody type people with their handheld devices.....All out of whack. Loved seeing the Nativity Scene under the Tree..... Glad for my believing in the real REASON for the SEASON....a Child was born and He changed History forever, He is coming again.

Hi Samkamas, this was a very touching and emotional video that you share with the YT community for the benefit of younger generations. It did bring tears to my eyes, bringing me back at a time of freedom, naiveté, and innocence. Little did I know, soon after that era, my life would change forever (I am a Veteran). If only I could go back to the early 1960s. I remember everyone of those years. Christmas snow coming down. Cold outside. 1940's car hoods flipped up side down. 4 maybe 5 of us on that ole car hood being pulled up and down the road by another automobile. Sometimes even a Patrolman would pass by and check on us kids, and sometimes he would pull us maybe a quarter a mile. Ice skating on the ponds, Sometimes alot of the towns people of all ages would be out ice skating. The dented candles smelled different back then. More pleasing to the nose, And ohhhh that hard Christmas candy back then. A price of that would last a good while in your mouth. Family gatherings from other States would come to visit. A Christmas tree so high, why it would give a small child whiplash just to stand under it to look up at it. Those peddle type metal cars that we got for Christmas. We tried so hard to peddle them out in the snow. The TV Christmas shows was a very wonderful memories. If we were lucky, our neighbor would hitch up his team of horses and his carriage and we would ride the old Country road, or even into town. People would gather to sing Christmas carols from door to door. Mom and the wemon folk would be chasing the men out from the kitchen as the Christmas ham was being cooked. Snow Castles and snow ball fights out in the yard with around 8 or 9 of us kids. We would have so much fun. Family that you may only see one time a year would come hundreds of miles to see us. All after Christmas dinner, we would all open our presents. What joy was held in all those very colorful beautiful boxes. In the den, a piano, or maybe a guitar would sound to our liking as it held good cheer from one room to the other as someone would began to play and sing. Sometimes both laughter and tears would fall as we remembered some losses of loved ones and friends that had passed on, rather it would be at home or in the service. Along with wishing they could be with us again, atleast for just one last time. Yes, the early 1960's was a world beyond your wildest dreams if you weren't borned back in the day. Christmas photos now are like archived memories. Just how many do we have, and how many are left. So if so, for those of you out there that's above your 60's, please take a moment to replay in your minds of all those very wonderful yester years. Also to you and yours......, Merry Christmas everyone. Christmas of 1960.

It was a Magical time. So many Family around. The tree the presents the food.We had an adult table and a Child table.I had my trains around he tree. At dinner time the 7 FISHES were served . Around 11.30 we would get and pile all the gifts into piles for each family member. We would have the YULE log on channel 11.At midnight the midnight MASS was on tv. We opened gifts and all shared the holiday. Now most of my family are all gone. I just lost my Dad in June. This year will be the hardest. We are not having any tree or celebrations this year. How I miss those days. Hold in your heart this special time of year with your loved ones. Cause in time they will all be gone and how I wish my family was still alive to be with me.

I was born in 1964. We grew up in the last best decades in America. The generations after us have lost their way and shredded our country and way of life. They have flushed morals and ethics down the toilet. Sadly our once decent way of living will never be restored in America. The comfort I have now in in our lord God that he will restore us after we leave this planet.
