I loved the bias tape applique with the iron on vinyl! So cute!

We could cut really wiggly lines in red vinyl too. That’s another possibility!

I'm a fan of the bias tape method as I've used it before with excellent results!
@LeahDay11 ай бұрын
It’s so easy! I the only time consuming bit is stitching on both sides of the tape, but once you get it stitched, it really looks amazing!
@libbyhaynes890911 ай бұрын
@@LeahDay sometimes I use a Zig zag stitch in matching thread, it looks great & gets both sides.

I liked the bias tape method the best and the darker green for the sprinkles.

Me too! I ended up using both sprinkle colors together and that worked too.

Thank you for that quick tutorial. Good ideas for any type of project. It's good to have alternate methods in our sewing chest of ideas. The reader below my post also had a good idea about couching. I'm sure that you have gotten a lot of quilting brains all excited!

Love the sprinkle ideas. I think couching would also be an interesting technique. Thanks!

Great idea! Couching with thick red yarn might also work good for this block too.

Hi Leah, I loved this video but I prefer the bias tape technique and I love the sprinkles idea but will have to look into this. I love your videos. Thanks and have a lovely Christmas. Laura

Love Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes. This could be easily done with the striped tree appliqued to the background instead of piecing to the background. Both would yield really fun blocks!
@LeahDay11 ай бұрын
From my experience, appliqué is generally less popular than piecing. I agree - I could have cut everything with fusible web on the back and had a lot less fuss. But piecing is still king!
@judyhebert892811 ай бұрын
Both are great, but I think bias tape looks the best.
@LeahDay11 ай бұрын
I agree! I got a lot closer to the actual Christmas tree cake look I think with the bias tape.

Thank you so much for a quilt block tutorial. I always learn something when you teach us. I think I like the bias tape best but I doubt I could get such nice straight lines so close to the edge. I wish you a blessed Christmas.

Leah, you mentioned how it helps you if we watch to the end. I’ve often wondered if “views” count only when the entire video is watched. Does it factor in if we play at a higher speed or skip forward? Cute trees. Thanks.
@LeahDay11 ай бұрын
Watch time is the most important metric overall, at least right now. This stuff is constantly in flex, but when I make an over 10 minute video, I’ll likely mention that because it does effect how many people get presented the video in the first place. I wish I could worry more about quilting techniques, but understanding this stuff has definitely become a requirement lately!

Great tutorial. Love your idea. Did you stitch the bias tape with a twin needle, or did you stitch it twice? Can't see it so clearly in the video
@LeahDay11 ай бұрын
I stitched twice since I can’t use a twin needle in the Little Rebel. Single hole needle plate would make that very tricky!

Hola Leah I’ve watched you for a looong time since ur son a baby 🤗🥰, I have a question I need help with bad . I’m trying to finish a quilt free motioning was for Christmas gift 😮🙄🫣 it’s cotton w batting n fleece backing n cotton thread. I keep getting skipped stitches,😤🫣😩 I’ve rethreaded, change needle changed thread, tried to adjust top knob tension, it’s a Brother PQ 1500 . I’ve ripped out soo many stitches foor days now. Please help any suggestions ???!!
@LeahDay10 ай бұрын
I would try changing thread. You might have gotten an older spool and it’s just not working for you.
