I recently purchased a bespoke version of this watch designated for graduates of Air Force Officer Training School, and cannot wait to get my hands on it when it arrives. I had never heard of Christopher Ward beforehand, and struggled to do adequate research. Thanks for sharing your expertise and perspective with us - it's truly invaluable.

I have the Sealander GMT in the green fume dial. I have the bracelet, black rubber strap, tan leather strap, and green “cloth” strap. It gets more wrist time than my Datejust, TAG, or Tudor GMT root beer dial. It gets second in wrist time only behind my Monta Pepsi. The Sealander GMT is an awesome watch. Great video.

I’ve just bought this identical watch on a high quality black leather strap, brand new from Christopher Ward for £905!! With the bracelet in the video it’s £1006. No special offer, or price reduction. That’s insane value. And the watch is everything Alex said it is.

Underselling, that’s an understatement 🙂. I’m fortunate to currently own 3 Rolex’s and I bought a CW C63, with the desire to keep my explorer safe, and I’m blown away with the quality verses price! It’s a real gem and as you stated, it’s a luxury no nonsense tool piece and a great introduction to horological rabbit hole. Nice review,,,,

Nice review Alex, I’ve long appreciated CW and agree that the price and quality don’t seem to correlate with each other and have been tempted on many occasions. They seem to be upping their game tremendously and I don’t think I will be able to hold off much longer.

I own two C63's, the green dial GMT on steel, along with the green canvas strap with orange stitching, and also the C63 Ukraine Limited Edition on steel. In my opinion, it is the perfect case design. The lugs have a beautiful downward curve, and it fits the wrist perfectly. Such brilliant watches, and I do plan on buying more from the brand to add to the three I already own (I also have a Malvern C5 revival).

I first saw the ‘Hunter Green’ C63 Sealander at the CW stand at WatchPro Salon and was very impressed with the ‘wire brush’ finish on the dial. CW seem to be doing nice things however, I don’t believe that they are underselling themselves. There are many Microbrands offering great value watches for the same sort of price or less. Also other brands making amazing watches for a little more money. Great to get a watchmakers perspective on lower value brands. Keep up the great work Alex. ✊

I think that there's no other Automatic GMT at this price with this type of quality and specifications. I am saying this because I've been researching for about two months to find a good GMT under $1200 and under 40mm and this CW was the one I've chosen to purchase in the coming week. But I'd be more than glad to see If you know any other watch in this category so I can look them up and maybe change my mind.

@@Jack.Napier Hi Sam, The Sealander is a great watch. I hope that you enjoy your new purchase. A couple of GMT’s in that price bracket have caught my eye recently. The Yema Flygraf French Air & Space Force GMT Black Limited Edition was one. I’m really into PVD Watches at the moment and this one is a 39mm one so may suit your size needs. It does come on a NATO strap (I don’t know if it has fixed spring bars) so you may prefer the leather strap on the CW. Movement wise I’m not too sure how Yemas ‘in house’ calibres match up to the Sellitas. You’d have to get a better opinion (maybe Alex could advise?). I’m also a military watch fan and liked the look of this one. Another couple of Watches were made by Farer. Another British brand. Their Porthleven and their Cribbar models caught my eye with their colourful designs. The interchangeable jubilee styled bracelet / rubber strap / NATO combination is quick release and they are powered by the same Sellita movement as the CW (I believe?). They are also £200 or so less than the CW. Great looking Watches I think but, you may want the simpler design of the CW with its very legible Explorer II style bezel? I hope these suggestions were useful. As I said, just a couple that have caught my eye recently. Good luck with whatever you choose and enjoy wearing your new Watch in good health Sam. ✊
@Jack.Napier2 жыл бұрын
@@Thomas_Burnett Thank you so much for all the information. I knew about the Farer and its watches and their good quality and attention to detail. This particular Farer is very good looking, the price is the exact same as the CW (both with bracelet) but farer uses sellita 220-1 and Cw uses 330-2 and that's a big difference, but again look wise I agree with you that Farer has a original and fun design with nice colors and that's hard to ignore but the movement is unfortunately a deal breaker for me. The Yema is nice and a little cheaper and I wasn't aware of this exact model but it is not my cup of tea. Their movement is also based on Sellita 220 and I've heard from few people on watch forums that Yema's bracelet quality is not the best in its price range. I agree that CW design is not something new and original and it's conservative to be honest but I also can't overlook the better movement and the good build quality of CW. Again, thanks for the good conversation and I'm happy that I've learned a few things from you. ✌🏼

Thank you for this review! I was so close to picking up the Speedmaster Racing with the reverse panda dial that I've been wanting for a long time. But now I've seen the green dial C63 GMT. Tough decision! I've known about these CW's for a while but honestly they've never been on my radar until now.

Ella Alex, a good review and follows on from Dee's last week of the C65. I'll be honest and say i knew very little about the brand until last week and did a little digging. Fallen in love with the C1 Moonglow which is admitedly twice the price of the C63 and this is where we hit a problem. How do brands like CW persuade the buyers to abandon higher, well known brands? You get great quality for a much much lower price but you trade off against the cache of owning an instantly recognisable name. Thats the battle they will always have. Good topic for a livestream maybe? Keep up the good work fille

I've been into watches fairly seriously for 5 years and I'm almost ashamed to say that I've only just taken the Omega and Rolex blinkers off to see and give brands like CW some mindshare, and the more I look at them, the more I like. They really are the enthusiast brand now. Maybe what Omega and Rolex might have been in the 60's perhaps.

Great review Alex i purchased the C63 Bronze to use as a daily as I work overseas and don't want to travel with my SD43. In the UK it was keeping great time with it being a COSC certified movement. Since I have been in Africa for the last few weeks it is gaining around 20 seconds a day and I do not understand why? However, I am very happy with the bronze edition and the models that the brand have out look great! it would be interesting to see how the in house movement that they have compares to the bigger brands whats your thoughts?

Is it really that good that you gave this a perfect score, or does the score come with an asterisk, like "for the money" it is perfect, but otherwise there are shortcomings? Or do you actually mean that this is as good as a much more expensive luxury premium sports watch? Cheers and thank you for the videos!

just was fortunate enough to purchase my first watch- it’s the updated CW C63 Sealander GMT White dial and it was $1400. I am so excited for it to arrive. I think they are beyond smart for the direction they are going in with releasing such a diverse and unique timepiece as the C1 Bel Canto. As they continue to gain traction and people realize an independent watch maker that controls retail price and distribution is competing effortlessly with much higher priced watches - the value will rise and eventually they will build and discontinue the original ones that got them their recognition. Like you said , even right now a used version of the 2021 model is $1300 with slight use and has over 232 views in 48 hours on chrono 24. they have a plan, wouldn’t be surprised if in 10-15 years these increase significantly in value . Great review , just subscribed
