Yes. Precisionist movements are for real. The sweep truly is other level. Cannot be overstated. Their accuracy, in my experience tends to be a bit hyped. Most of my Precisionists are about as accurate as my other "regular" quartz watches. Meaning generally about 1 to 5 seconds per month fast. Casio seems to really understate their accuracy. Virtually all of my Casios gain 1 to 5 seconds per month, and a couple will lose 1 to 3 seconds per month, and a couple gain more than 10 seconds. THE most-accurate watch in my collection is a Casio G-9000 which is reading 0-seconds error after almost 4 months. And everytime I've checked it, it has never been more than 1 seconds off. Pretty good for about 80 bucks and a spec of +-15s/mo. Back on topic, lol, Bulova is sitting on a goldmine. And what do they do? Flood the market with garish huge ugly af 3-or-4-subdial chronos that read to 1/1000s. 🤦♂️ Full disclosure; I have 3 of those 1/1000s chronos, but they're more classic-looking. Not the freaky-futuristic newer stuff. They are still too big though. And heartbreakingly, my Lunar Pilot's seconds subdial has a mecha-quartish 3-ticks-per-second sweep. 🤦♂️Who's idea was it to make a Precisionist movement sweep like a VH/VK? 🙄 Man, if I could be King Of Bulova for a month! Jody, congrats on 300K subs! That is amazing for a watch channel. I think this is 3x over the price it is worth. I have two Seiko chronos both quartz. One has the 1/10 of a second dial and the other is a mecca quartz. Each was less than $200 USD. I don't see how you can see this as a good value for the Christopher ward. It's way too much money for the watch. I also hate butterfly clasp bracelets. And yes the Seiko watches have crappy bracelets on their Chronos so I use leather straps. Much more comfortable.
@JeffKassel-x7m5 ай бұрын
Hi, Jody. You mention that chronometer certification requires an average rate of +/-7 seconds per year. If your standard is the COSC specification, I found that to be an average rate of +/-0.07 seconds per day. That translates to about +/-25 seconds per year. I don’t know whether Christopher Ward specified the rate for this watch, but an overage rate of +/-25 seconds per year seems more in line with a standard frequency quartz while +/-7 seconds per year seems more in the realm of high frequency quartz movements. Still, beating +/-25 is still good performance.

Someday somebody will modify a VK-67 to replicate a VJ 7750. They are close now. This watch needs a Mecha-Q style running seconds on the center seconds hand so no need for the sub-register to 1/10th of a sec. as 1/5th of a second is perfectly adequate. So, the 1/10th sec. sub-dial is replaced with a 12 hour totalizer. This watch has a very legible and historically correct : a 30 minute totalizer. Add a day/date at the 3:00 and call it a day. Oh….one more: Look to Seiko’s quartz movements with 8 to 12 jewels and made to be serviced. I will pay $1K for such a watch at 39 mm like my Glass Box Carrera. Just need screwdown crown & pushers :-) Great vid as always Jody, Thanks

It's £750 in UK on a bracelet, the quartz movements is only about £60 as opposed to £400 for a valjoux 7750 from the same stable so it not exactly a bargain. I don't get chronographs at all but I'd have thought that if you want one then this size where its essence is emphasised would the way to go rather than a larger dial with smaller subdials. The accuracy of the watch is pretty impressive (forgetting the in my view largely pointless chronograph functions) so it compares well with Longines VHP and Grand Seiko and could make it seem more like a bargain.

@tivobelievo5 ай бұрын
VERY impressive accuracy from this movement. But when I think of Christopher Ward, I think of mechanical movements. And the once-per-second ticking of most quartz movements irks me. Plus, I'm pretty much over chronographs at this point. The watch market needs another chronograph like Elon needs a Starbucks rewards card. I'd be WAY more likely to drop $650 on a quartz CW if it had a VH or VK movement in it. Preferably a VH so no chrono. Yes, I know I'm sacrificing hair-splitting accuracy. And I don't care that manufacturing costs would be way lower but that I'm still paying the same price. I don't need or want a chrono, especially one that ticks once-per-second. But I do want a CW with sweeping (or sweeping-ish) seconds hand and a great dial for way under USD 1,000.

Si Glenn hiciera photoshop no al reloj sino a las sub esferas haciéndolas más pequeñas se vería más proporcionado es más las manecillas de las subesferas se ven pequeñas; al reducir el área blanca se verían más coherentes y proporcionadas. Rather than the no doubt huge cost of designing and making a bigger case why not just make the sub dials a tad smaller on a 2.0 version 🤷🏻♂️ It’s easier to move Mohammed to the mountain than move the mountain which as far I know tend to be a little bit difficult to move.

The moonswatch uses a G10.212... Almost all ETA quartz movements have the option for a "precidrive" version. Swatch group brands barely advertise this, but you'd be surprised at how many "cheap" swatch group quartz chronos have the exact same movement, like half the price of the Chris Ward. Even then, the G10 movement is likely the most basic swiss quartz chrono movement you can get. The ETA 251.264 PRD would've been absolutely amazing to see in the watch, 27 jewel quartz, actually serviceable, 5 motors, rattrapante hands, preci-drive and power-drive, also can tick up to 100 times a seconds and measures 1/100th for the chronograph. Not that impressed with the G10 to be honest.....

You just doubled the price of the movement.

Gorgeous watch but id prefer it in a bigger size.

Nice looking thing. £750 for a watch with a £45 movement is a bit steep though.
