he's giving us a 'point-of-departure' - a way to build lines that are harmonically pleasing and logical. I think it's fantastic that this kind of info is free and on the internet. Really rich stuff. bless 'im!

Crucial point in this lesson: 90 days of repetition to make it reflexive. That seems about right based on my experience, too. It's a hard lesson to learn, though. Sticking with a single idea that long is a different kind of practice, but necessary if the goal is to gain a new phrase for improvisation. Great lesson, as always!

Especially strong here Chris. I spent several hours working out how this all fits together - especially round the circle. Like most things straightforward enough in "C"... however a bit more challenging to get the same level of workable and usable understanding in the other keys. A power of information in harmony, voice leading and relationships on the fretboard - particularly between the basic two shapes. Simple for many I'm sure but Im learning a lot working slowly through it. Many thanks.

Bert Ligon and Jerry Coker have great books covering this idea of pathways. I think ingraining these on every possible string combination is equally important for us guitarists to gain mastery as through 12 keys

Great lesson. Thanks. Another possibility can be first the same 4 notes of the Dm7 arpeggio, than go scale wise down with the notes B, A, G, F and than you land on E, but this time an octave lower.
