Actually, it was confirmed that Kite is stronger than Pitou. The creator deliberately had Kite lose an arm to even the playing field in his fight against Pitou.

These are visual ques that Pitou, though the win was inevitable, struggled against a one-armed kite with a mace-like weapon. It's not entirely about who's stronger, it's about who can hold their own in a nen fight.

On that same note, Pitou kept Kite's body quite literally because pitou enjoy the fight it had with Kite. I doubt Pitou would keep his body if that he could be easily defeated.

It's still too short for me, I looked forward a tactical fight between him and any nen user (either chimera ant or human) of similar strength, just like Chrollo and Hisoka, but since he's dead, it's no longer possible

Maybe you don't get the point of this Story Arc. The Reason Kite wants it to be as Quiet and an instant / Fast Kill is because they are Sneaking into the Enemy area. They need to Hide as much as possible and Kill in 1 shot, to speed up and save strength. If you pay attention, you will see All Kite's Fight is just 1 Shot and Instant Kill. That's the thing Kite is teaching Gon and killua. Do it Quickly and Quietly, Observe your enemy and give 1 Fatal Shot to End a Fight, not wasting too much time and strength.
