What a find, Lulu owns this tune for me, nice choice of alternate melody notes, kudos to the band and Jeff's understated guitar work. This tune can be a shouter, but this toned down version says so much. Thanks for posting!

She had a great voice when she was allowed to use it, but female singers in those days had to comply with what was expected of them and were given some rubbish songs. If Joss Stone or Amy Whitehouse had been around then, even they would have ended up in a satin ball gown on Sunday Night at the London Palladium singing End of the World and doing a duet with Bruce Forsyth.

He always seems to play with great singers… often with strong and ‘nicely grating’ (I don’t know how to describe it but Rod Stewart and Lulu have it). I’ve read the singers love him as he follows their singing rather than the other way round so could be that helps the singer a lot? ❤

Never heard this version before. Great vocals, so so arrangement and the guitar at the end is horrible. Her vocals has emotion and great technique, she has almost perfect pitch but the song drags, no life, no emotion. Her voice is amazing but overall the song has nothing.
