This is great information. I am a 58 yr old man who was involved in a motorcycle/car accident when I was 19. Shattered both fibula and tibia in both legs, a couple ribs, left humerus bone, C3 in my neck, totalled out my right shoulder, and a few other things. Over the years I have been fighting the inflammation pain train by trial and error mostly, I don't like taking the meds for it. I found the drastic ways diet makes me feel years ago, eat the wrong stuff and the next day I feel it. Videos like this help me dial in what works best for me.

Speaking of the value of cooking foods at lower temperatures, I've found that cooking meats and even some fish in a crock pot results in a more tender and moister meat, chicken, or fish. And if you want to brown it slightly, say a hamburger, then put it in a frying pan and slightly brown it after cooking it in the slow cooker. This way you have a moist and tender burger, whereas, if you cook it in the frying pan, or even under the broiler, it gets hard and dry. Some of these meats can get so dry, you almost choke on them trying to eat them. And cooking meats in this way allows you to collect the fats all in one place to make a tasty gravy or sauce for them. After you remove a meat from the slow cooker, then sift in the thickener, and stir, adding butter if needed, to make a gravy. A good thickener I've found is the non-gluten, non-modified potato starch, which also helps control blood sugar. So an example of this technique would be Broccoli Beef. Start by putting the beef seasoned with a little salt (stir fry cut--but we're not stir frying it) in the slow cooker set on low. When the beef is done, take it out of the pot, and set it aside. Then the fat is left in the slow cooker. Start sifting in some of the non gluten nonmodified potato starch a little at a time, while continuing to stir with a fork until it thickens to the desired consistency for a sauce. Then add the seasonings: garlic, ginger, some soy sauce or Bragg's Liquid Aminos, a little sesame oil and/or hot pepper oil. You could even add some beef bone broth, or worstershire sauce, or red wine. If you want the meat to have a more browned taste or look, you can fry it lightly in a frying pan just to brown the outside slightly. Then steam the broccoli separately in a sauce pan. Then mix the meat, sauce, and broccoli together and serve over riced cauliflower. I still haven't managed to give up rice, so I'm mixing the riced cauliflower with regular rice. Haven't been able to go cold turkey on carbs yet.

I’ve tried every diet on the planet. I go to the gym at least 5 days a week 1.5-2 hours. I kill myself and I lose weight slowly. I have a ton of inflammation and I didn’t realize until now that’s why I lose weight so slowly. I was on keto less than a year ago. It caused gallstones and I had to go on a fat free diet for a couple months until I could have surgery. I was basically only eating vegetables. I lost MORE weight in a short amount of time doing that than I did kn keto or any diet. I felt better. My ankles weren’t swollen. After surgery I went back on my normal diet and everything slowed down again. Your videos have me convinced I need to focus on reducing inflammation to speed up weight loss. I do everything right and my doctor says I’m not trying hard enough. BS. I’m convinced inflammation slows my metabolism. Side note- I do have hoshimotos/hypothyroidism which is the cause of inflammation.

Glucose causes glycation in the body, by denaturing of proteins(So glucose cooks you from the inside slowly as opposed to the steak which cooked quickly to denature the protein, same process glycation). A classic example is the HbA1c Blood Test which every Diabetic has to take, this measures the amount of glucose binding to the protein Haemoglobin in the red blood cell. This is classic glycation & measures the blood sugar level. The higher the HbA1c the more uncontrolled sugar in your body & the faster you are Ageing & more likely to get chronic diseases like Cancer, Arthritis, Parkinson's Disease etc. So when you reach more than 6.5% or 47mmol/mol HbA1c you are classified as Type 2 diabetic & prescribed Metformin, to begin with.
@songsofthecentury39094 жыл бұрын
Glucose passes through the blood-brain barrier & unlike cells elsewhere brain cells don't need insulin to carry glucose into them. Brain cells are very sensitive to glucose, however too little & too much causes cell death. However, too much glucose entering the brain also causes AGEs(advanced glycosylation end-products), atherosclerosis, reduced O2 flow & of course major free radical damage. We know AGEs contribute to plaques made of a type of protein called beta-amyloid that is found in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. What if your body doesn't get enough glucose? Then the hormonal feedback loop first calls on Glucagon the hormone that counterbalances insulin to raise the glucose level. If that doesn't work & in people with unstable blood sugar it doesn't--then the next step to is to call Cortisol the stress hormone. body only calls cortisol in an emergency situation. If unstable blood sugar frequently forces your body to fall back on cortisol the long term effects on the brain are very bad. To be blunt cortisol kills brain cells.

I’ve never been overweight (still over fat, under muscled), but I’ve been in a constant state of painful inflammation since my early 30’s. I’m in my early 50’s now. Thomas, I have learned a lot from you and Berg, but I am going to be honest. Sometimes I feel that trying to follow all of your rules and restrictions is going to cause me to be so stressed and overwhelmed that my body is going to be completely drenched in cortisol. For example, you say not to combine carbs with fats or protein...I’m like WTF! Eating goes from being enjoyable to totally frustrating because there’s no way I can consistently follow all of the guidelines. I guess I must find what is best for me personally, like everything else in life. Thanks for your help man, though my brain can only process maybe half of what you say... LoL

I'm thinking he's meaning simple sugars/carbs. Like a baked potato with butter and cream, etc. Now like a baked potato, asparagus(veggies), and steak. I wouldn't think that insulin spike wouldn't automatically make you store the fat from steak. Just eat balanced and don't over think. Just don't add all the "junk" and processed stuff to the plate. Just my 2 cents.

Since I started watching videos on inflammation, Keto and foods that trigger inflammation, I have changed my lifestyle drastically and I feel like a brand new person. But now form the changes I made to my diet and other things, I don't feel like I should own stock in pharmacy companies because I spend all my money on anti inflammatories.
